Hi John,

How many points with the five placements? When does she turn 2?

Nice work. Consistent. Reminds me of another golden!

Jeff, Lucy turns two on 7-8-06, so she may get a chance to run a few more derbies --- Chattanooga next weekend. With the 2nd this weekend, she has 8 points.

Nice Job John Boy!!

You put a golden bitch on the derby list and people will start thinking you and Andy know something about training dogs!

..well, that, too :) ..and perhaps the breeder's knowledge of pedigrees has a little something to do with her talent!! :)

(Congratulations, Melanie!!)

Great job by all and very exciting!

Let's not lose focus on the most important thing this weekend........Steve Amrein found his keys  and his wife Anna won't have to drive down to bring the spare set......and kill him!

My "good dog" comment was referring more to this comment by goldenboy2:

To take the breeder comment a step further, putting good bloodlines together that "nick" well is an art, to be sure.....but at the end of the day, it's up to the dog to do the work. Some of the best talent ever bred has ended up ruined by bad training. John and Andy have obviously played a role in the dog's success as well.

If it were all about the breeding, we'd have more litters out there producing like the Maxx/Hattie breeding did (I know....pesky Labs....but aren't 100% of the dogs in that litter TITLED? ).

And then there's that "luck" thing....which one can never have enough of. Now, when the day comes that we can breed for that, look out! !

Again, congrats John and Andy! I look forward to seeing her run here in Chattanooga, but I hope you're not expecting too much from your "pinch handler!" !

I don't have any Q results-as I am home early but will say it was a good meaty test.

The first series was a triple, no retired birds, but lots of factors to the get to the birds. A very challenging land blind was between the middle bird and the flyer.

The judges called back 27(I think 44 started?) to the water blind. The line to the blind was over some leaves/brush, into a channel, over a point, back into a channel, and up into a field with moderate cover. They called back 8 to do the last series which I hope someone describes. Sadly, Raven and I weren't one of the ones who got to play.

Good luck to all who did make it to the fourth and hope you did well-

The last series of the qual was on a new piece of water. It wasn't a traditional pond, it was a small pond with a few channels around it. There was a long retired bird thrown from the top of a mound into a small piece of water. To the right was a bird thrown into the base of huge brushpile and the go bird was thrown down the shore on the the left part of the pond converging with the long retired throw.

The results (sorry don't know which dogs)
1 - Pat Kinney
2 - Charlie Moody
3 - Jip, Greg Lister
4 - ?
RJ - Chef (me :) )

From what I remember of the open results
1 & 2 Scott Harp - One was Vickie's Ozark dog who is titled and qualified for the national
3 - Charlie Moody
4 - Kip Kemp

The amateur

1 - Scott Carruth
2 - Marty Kirby and Chickorita
3 - Scott Carruth
4 - Lefty Dorobek
