The first series at the Bear Branch Invitational was a triple mark.
1) Middle bird (hen pheasant) thrown first at 190 yards
2) Duck thrown in heavy cover slightly to the left at 80 yards
3) Flyer (duck) to right at 75 yards
*) Middle gunner retired after flyer

My evaluation was: no trouble on flyer; few handles on short duck to left; ONLY 3 clean runs to long retired middle bird.

90 points possible today and they go like this:

Wish I could be there! My husband and our chocolate lab "Bud" are there with Mr. Bill Autrey. They tell me the lodge is phenomenal and the people are great. There are many very talented trainers and dogs and this should prove to be a very interesting contest. I am looking forward to attending next year.

I got to meet Mr. Bill Autry last night and it was an honor. Looks like your dog is fairing pretty well after the first series in 10th place. There will be alot of points to make or lose in the Friday test so everyone is still right in the game IMO. I hope you get to make it next year and good luck. You have heard correct about the lodge and you will not be treated any better ANY WHERE.

"Bud" is a 3 year old chocolate with a lot of heart and he loves to play the game. He is one of Mr. Autreys pups off of 6xGHRCH "Cody". It is a priviledge, as his owner, to be able to compete with the best in the country. I will be at home anxiously awaiting results. Good luck to everyone! May the best "dog" win!

Hey Tina! I just came across your post by accident and thought I would shoot you a greeting. Sounds like Bud did really well at the Bear Branch test. I'm on my way to meet Joe and Bill now with Jenny who just came into heat. Looking forward to Pups out of Bud.

See you soon. Mike.

Hi Mike,

I talked to Joe and he is own his way home from Mr. Bill's. Bud and Jenny are staying with Mr. Bill for the breeding. Should have some great pups with both of their pedigrees. Will see you the next time you are in Louisiana.
