There are three great events scheduled this year. Admission is free and parking will be provided on site. This event will be held outdoors at the grounds of the Delmar Waterfowl Club located at 1719 North Little Creek Road in Dover Delaware. This is the Northeast corner of Routes 1 and 8.


All of the duck events will be held Saturday August 23 and the goose events on Sunday August 24, 2008. Sign up will start at 8:00am and the first contest will begin at 8:45. There will be twelve categories including Novice, Junior, Junior Novice, Open and Meat Calling events for any level of callers. A fee is required to enter with cash and merchandise prises to all that place. More details can be found at

The last contest of the day on Saturday will be the Delaware State Duck Calling Championship, open to Delaware residents who will be 17 years old by the hour of the start of the World’s Duck Calling Championship on November 29, 2008. All participants must bring proof of residency and agree to represent the State of Delaware at the World’s Championship in 2008, should they win. Should the winner fail to represent the contest and not have an approved reason as per the World’s Championship Rules Committee, the contestant agrees to return all money awarded to the contest organizer, so that the 2nd place winner can represent the contest at the “Worlds”; in addition, they will be ineligible to compete in the Delaware State Duck Calling Championship for a period of 3 years.


On-site registration will begin at 2:00pm, Friday August 22nd. The first wave (40 dogs) will begin at 4:00 pm with the second at 6:00pm. On Saturday registration starts at 7:30am with waves at 9:00 am, 12:00 and 3:00 pm. The Extreme Vertical Event will start at 6:00 pm that evening. On Sunday August 24th registration begins at 7:30am with the only wave of the day at 9:00 am. The Speed Retrieve Event will be held at 11:30 am. Divisional Finals for the top four teams of the Novice, Junior and Senior Divisions will be held at 2:30pm. The Finals for the top 12 teams in the Big Air Competition will take place immediately after the Divisional Finals. There are levels for all types of dogs and handlers so don't be afraid to get your dog wet. Since this will be the first time this competition has been held in Delaware, there will be many first time entries. Come check out his brand new event on Sunday August 24th. Bring your water dog in a simulated hunt under realistic conditions. The challenge will include a water retrieve from a duck blind and a goose retrieve from a ground blind. Hunting conditions will be simulated with blank gunfire, decoys, Dokken training dummies and calls. Prizes provided by Ducks Unlimited will be awarded for the novice and experienced dog handlers and the cost to enter the contest is $30.00 The DU Retriever Challenge is open to all and starts at 8:30 am with registration at 8:00 am. Registration will be rolling and the challenge will last until all dogs have run each series, so it will not be necessary to be there from the start.. This non-sanctioned contest will be a fun event set up to highlight the concepts taught in the various seminars for the novice and experienced dog owners. Professional Trainers and experienced AKC judges will be on hand to give dog handlers advice. Judging will be to AKC Hunt Test Standards; Junior for the novice group and Senior for the experienced group. One hour seminars will be held on Marshtown Training Grounds starting on Friday August 22nd and Saturday August 23th. Sign up starts at 8:00 am and limited to ten dog owners.
