The Upper Chesapeake Chapter of Delta Waterfowl is proud to announce "Delta Dogs" Retriever Program. On October 5th, 2008 at Rebel Ridge Farms in Elkton,Maryland the UCC will be hosting a Meet the Trainer Seminar and training Day. It will begin at 8:30 am.
Enjoy a seminar in the morning presented by local dog trainer Cal Rumbley. Cal is an avid hunter and trains his dogs for hunting, Hunt Tests, and Field Trials. His seminar will be on "The Basics" of retriever training.
Next blow the cob webs off your best friend by running him or her on a couple of real life hunting situations using fresh thawed Mallards and gun fire.
Enjoy lunch in the club house and meet some of the great folks from the Upper Chesapeake Chapter and Del Bay Retriever Club. Learn about the incredible heritage of retriever training and competition that is right in our back yards.Believe it or not the first Master National Competition in the U.S. was held on the retriever training grounds along the C&D Canal just outside Chesapeake City.
After lunch Pro Trainer Patty Jordan will present a demonstration on advanced retrieving skills and abilities. Get a glimpse of what your dog is capable of with the proper instructions. This demonstration will highlight the differences between Field Trials and Hunt Tests.
End your day with a second set of marks. Trainers will be available to answer questions and give tips while yoiu run your dog.
All breeds of retrieving dogs are welcome regardless of age or experience. Everyone from the "Meat Dog" to the Master Hunter should come away from the day with a little something that will benefit them and their dog in the field this season. The registration cost will be a nominal fee of $20 to cover the cost of birds, lunch, and the use of the 200 acre training facility. Spectators not bringing a dog may attend for $10. Registration will be limited to 40 people and a total of 20 dogs in order for everyone to get the most from the day. You may register before Setember 28th by calling 443-466-5333 and leaving your name and phone number so we can contact you, or by E-Mailing me with your info to tcurtis775@msn.com
