Any Long Island News?

10-03-2008, 06:59 PM
The derby finished with only three dogs completing a difficult third series. Placements were:

First -- Dog 10, Rev, Rex Bell O/H

Second -- Dog 2, Ready, O- Dave Opseth, H - Lyn Yelton

Third -- Dog 6, Motor, O/H Elissa Kirkegaard

The Open finished its first series, a triple with a very long (~350 yards?) middle retired bird, a long (~250 yard) retired right bird on a tight angle, and a tricky flyer to the left at about 150 yards. All dogs that managed to bring back all birds were called back for the second series starting at 9 AM tomorrow. I don't have the count on callbacks.

The Qual has 19 coming back tomorrow to the third. I watched (and photographed) all but the last two dogs in the Amateur first series. They were beginning the land blind when I left the stake at about 3:30. The Open will be running the fourth in the morning. The set ups have been good and challenging in all stakes.
