Hi All,

Usually a lurker but I felt it was important to pass on this message.

Several new bills pertaining to animals in the OK Legislature. Here are two of them.

HB 1332: Breeding regulations bill called the Pet Quality Assurance Act. This is a sister bill to one last year (HB 3192) The bill calls for mandated inspections, licensure and fines/fees for anyone who transfer, sells or breeds over 25 dogs in a calendar year. It also stipulates the guidelines for animal seizures, penalties and surprise inspections. This bill will affect rescue organizations.

HB2209: Changes language from dog owner to dog guardian and lists the penalties for mistreating dogs by anyone and has a section specific to dog “guardians”. While good intended this bill may indirectly lead to the outlaw of training methods that some would deem “abusive”.

You might want to post this on the main forum. There are quite a few of us in OK that frequent RTF and would be interested in this who might not see it here.

Who sponsored this, and do you have a link to the bill's language?
