anything with one or two syllables, that doesnt sound too much like any commands you may be calling.

I agree that a one or two syllable name is best its easier for the dog to learn and understand, also you want a name that you can yell across a field with out sounding to rediculous. I heard a guy once hunting apublic lake absolutely screaming at a dog named "sugar" to get it to listen, it was too funny, and sounded very awkward.

I let my kids name our dogs and they have done a pretty good job so far. We have a tri colored Cavalier and they named him Bandit (he even looks like he has a mask on). They named our English Setter Buddy (pretty creative huh). I got a ylm last Nov and my son named him after his hockey skates - Vapor. I kinda like Vapor as I have never heard of that being a dog name.

In 1975 Richard Boone "Russian" starred in a movie called "Against the Crooked Sky". He had a Russian Wolfhound in the movie named B'ar Killer (Bear Killer).

Duck pond or not, that's a classic name!

I prefer the John Wayne standby -- "Dog"

I have a friend that had a dog named that. But his name was actually spelled out when you said it. Another good one is a dog named cat!

My current 14 yr. old rug dog was the best all around gun dog I've owned (I've owned 8 now). JK's Trumarc Gameseeker call name Guide. However he was my worst field trial dog.
