I think its more offensive wearing $ 540.00 sneakers to serve food at a soup kitchen. Another expensive photo op IMHO

I understand your point and agree, but most people with that kind of money are out of touch and don't understand. Maybe she thought she was stimulating the economy! But she was probably paid to wear them anyhow. What's sad is someone thought this was news worthy.

What i think is funny is near the bottom of this "news" article
As the family's primary dog walker, Michelle clearly requires comfortable footwear.
"I got up at 5:15 in the morning to walk my puppy," she joked Thursday. "That's how my day starts. Even though the kids are supposed to do a lot of the work, I'm still up at 5:15 a.m. taking my dog out."
I won't argue that 1st point but walking your pup takes a $540 pair of skids huh?
My wife ought to be ecstatic then, when I tell her i only want $160 for a new pair of gore-tex day hikers!!
On the other hand though, sounds like many other household in the US w/ pups. The kids say "oh, I'll do all the work...". ;)

Don't forget that a lot of designers give their clothing to high-profile people. They consider it good advertsisng when someone says, "oh my god, she's wearing such and such designer's shoes or clothing". I don't think she reached into her pocket and paid that kind of money for a pair of sneakers. Those sneakers probably cost the designer like $25 bucks to make. It's the lable not the substance. I'm sure all the women in da hood are going to want a pair and will spend our tax dollars to buy them. ;-)

She would look good with a big gold tooth.

Yeah, but some of you spend $1,000 for a thing that throws boat bumpers into a field.

Those are some ugly ankles attached to them "tennis shoes"

I have owned a lot of sneakers in my life, but I'll bet the total cost won't touch the price of the Worst Lady's one pair.

Mrs. Obama could have gotten the Obama Commrtative tennis shoes complete with the likeness of the President for only $39.95. Anyone purchasing commerative shows will also get the commerative back pack, plus the commemorative Obama Basket ball. She could have outfitted the whole family plus 4 backpacks and 4 basketballs then given nearly $400 to her favorite charity.
