OHIO VALLEY RETRIEVER CLUB
Guest Training Day!
Sunday May 31st
9:00 am till 2:00 pm
The Ohio Valley Retriever Club (OVRC) is hosting a retriever training day for those that wish to learn, train and develop a more advanced gundog or AKC hunt test dog. We are a family friendly club and this training day is open to retrievers of all ages, including pups, or those planning on purchasing a gundog.
This will be a fun day whereas as your dog will have an opportunity to make retrieves and get some birds in their mouth as you exchange training ideas with club members about how to work with your dog.
Areas we will cover, participate in, and demo include:
What we do as a retriever training club & the benefits of membership
Obedience training as the foundation of the gundog
Demonstration of obedience and problem-solving discussion
Use of tools – from treats and praise to heeling sticks and e-collars
Demo of dogs working at the Junior, Senior, and Master Hunt Test levels
Your dog getting retrieves on birds thrown by the club
Question and answer throughout the sessions on how to improve a gundog
The training day is open to all retrieving breeds: Labrador Retrievers, Flat Coated Retrievers, Curly Coated Retrievers, Chesapeake Bay Retrievers, Golden Retrievers, Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers, poodles, and Irish Water Spaniels
OVRC will provide all birds, set-ups, and equipment. All you need is your pup/dog…a lead/leash and plenty of water for your dog! Pack a lunch if you like!
The training day will be held on Sunday, May 31st near Johnstown from 9:00 am till 2:00 pm. Please reserve your spot ASAP by contacting Al Jameson with any questions, and he will also provide the directions to the event! Hope to see you and your dog there!
