What exactly do you think msnBS has in mind with this article? The second link is freaking scary (at least when I looked at it, I hope it has changed)!!!!! Looks like socialism will be here before we know it. Work less make the same money, government pays you to be off while sick, parenting, lose a job no big deal…… We are so screwed. Our forefathers left Europe and the other parts of the world to form this great nation and now the media is mixing the kool aid for the masses. Don’t think they will be successful in selling dumbass Americans on this idea? They already sold them on obongo as president and the swine flu as the next plauge.....

The latest proposal being floated is to allow Newspapers to have non-profit status. WA state is lowering their B & O tax till 2015 to allow them to recoup.

While I do very much enjoy well researched & well written articles in print, didn't the newsies get into this position by their lousy business model. Ideologically driven media does not have a market as it is mainly poorly researched garbage.

Everything will soon be state owned, no need to be good. In fact the worst business plans will get you the most from the goberment

It's gonna be really nice when we get that one world government.

.

What is killing newsprint is three fold;

1) The internet, people no longer have to read yesterdays news today. The biggest or heaviest consumers of newspapers are consumers over 60 years of age. The younger generation knows the internet and the internet is free. Plus, younger readers don't like the idea of disposing of old newspapers as they like to think "green".

2) Cost of paper and labor is killing their bottom line.

3) Loss of major advertising dollars. As readership continues to decline (almost nonexsistant with under 40 year olds) so have ad revenues.

I understand that Obomo is considering bailing them out. What he doesn't understand is that newspapers and magazines just don't sell today. Like I said, the interent is killing them.

Same thing is happening to network TV news.

Today we have more choices of where we consume news. Not like the old days when there were only three choices; ABC, CBS and NBC.

You are right, but the 24/7 cable news is killing them just as much as the internet is.

The percentages in your second link seem to pretty much mirror those from the last general election. Why are you suprised?
If MSNBC is orchestrating this wouldn't the numbers reflect that?

Actually the numbers are now very different than when I posted them. They were 60% in favor of the goberment taking care of every aspect of your life and 32% against it with the rest unsure.
At least now it is 55% that are NOT in favor of it

Well, current #'s are 52 vs 44. I guess our way of life is safe for the time being.
The relavance of the republican party, and the conservative movement, still remains in doubt, however, and will be for some time to come, I believe.

And that may be a good thing.

YEah that seems to be the blitz of the week, you know with Rush running the show and every media outlet telling you just how bad off the party is an all. Keep on drinking the kool aid...... Election time will tell I guess;-)

BTW_ still shocking to me that 44% of the people in the poll are dumb enough to want to adopt socalisim similar to Germany. Those 44% are the lazy, I need someone to make me equal becasue I don't try or care to try very hard and want everything in life given to them. Sad that many people in this Great Country do not understand what they already have
