A rich tourist comes to town. He enters the only hotel, lays a $100 bill on the reception counter and asks to inspect the rooms upstairs in order to pick one.

The hotel proprietor takes the $100 bill and runs to pay his debt to the grocer.

The grocer takes the $100 bill and runs to pay his debt to the farmer.

The farmer takes the $100 bill and runs to pay his debt to his feed and seed merchant.

The feed and seed merchant takes the $100 bill and runs to pay his debt to the prostitute who in these hard times offered her services on credit.

The hooker runs to the hotel and pays hotel proprietor with the $100 bill to clear her account for the little room she used when she brought her clients there.

The hotel proprietor then lays the $100 bill back on the counter.

When the rich tourist comes down after inspecting the rooms he takes his $100 bill and tells the hotel proprietor he did not like any of the rooms.

The rich tourist leaves town.

No one earned anything.

But now the whole town is out of debt, and looks to the future with a lot of optimism.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is how our government is doing business today

Interestingly, if it actually worked that way the government would have fulfilled a perfect role. By providing short term credit, the economy was able to break a credit log jam that was stifling commerce. There were sufficient assets available to pay off all debt. However, a lack of liquidity froze everything. A temporary infusion allowed everything to be worked through. This was essentially what the Fed did by extending intraday credit to banks.

I know that you were alluding to it with your first sentence but the government unfortunately works that way but with the the money coming full circle. No one is going to be paying for this. At least not in the forseeable future.

Yeah, but if everyone but the hooker was legit and payed tax, that Ben Franklin would be an Abe Lincoln by the time it got back on the desk!

Well, the hooker wanted to pay taxes but when she went to ACORN for advice she ended up starring in an O'Keefe video.:D

And speaking of hookers, did anyone notice the ad in the classifieds: "Wanted: High Drive English Stud (http://www.retrievertraining.net/forums/showthread.php?t=45483)". RTF is definitely going to lose its PG rating.

Instead, the Fed Govt came up with the Stimulus Bill, destroying what little was left.

A credit crunch, freezing many small businesses who borrow against AR's paralyzed the economy.

Interesting analysis. Any details to back it up?

Bingo. Taxes take their cut each time the $ changes hands. Hey, the hooker may pay taxes, too. Might say she's in the entertainment industry;)

I like Yardley's explanation! :-P

Maybe that $100 can be donated to John Edward's legal defense fund! What a scum-bag! Latest now, is he tried to get a staffer to take the fall of paternity for him!! That tells me he KNEW he was the dad long ago. What does he think?? The whole world is his courtroom, where lawyers can distort and manipulate the truth into whatever thier little world needs? That is a young boy, that will grow up and play ball, and have friends, and wonder who is Daddy is someday. To barter and manipulate like that deserves a very deep, HOT, special cubby hole in HELL!

I may have been branded a liberal by some on this forum, and I may decry name-calling.....but let me be the first to say that worthless SOB deserves MORE than any misery that comes his way. They ought to lock him up with Larry Craig and a jar of Viagra in a bathroom stall. How that B-tard can show his face in public and wear a smile is beyond comprehension.

sorry, off my box regards,
dave

Only my business, those details aren't for you.

But the banks froze loans against AR.
They began assuming AR's would be over 90 days out.
I am certain there are a few here who lived this.

If you know so much about small business, you know this.

BTW--small businesses is what makes America run.

I have also been informed that the great state of California is the best state in the union to start a small business!!

All you need to start with is a big business!!:D
