I like to play golf but I can't find the time to get out more then 2-4 times a year and I'm not even the leader of the free world.

Perhaps he should spend more time making decisions about Afghanistan and less time playing sports.

I wonder how many of you guys were fixated on how much time off Bush took?

He will likely miss the place: According to CBS News White House Correspondent Mark Knoller, today's trip marks Mr. Bush's 149th visit to the presidential retreat. The planned three-day stay, during which the president is being joined by family and former and current aides, will bring his total time spent at Camp David to all or part of 487 days.

Yes, that's 487 days. And Camp David is not even where the president has spent the most time when not at the White House: Knoller reports that Mr. Bush has made 77 visits to his ranch in Crawford during his presidency, and spent all or part of 490 days there.

It seems like the messiah is on a mission to out do Bush. He has golfed as much in his first 9 months as Bush did in his first 34 months. Obama has done over two dozen fund raisers in 9 months. Bush did 6 in his first year. Do these days off not count because he isn't going to Texas? Or do they not count because he is, after all, the messiah?

At this rate, he may make you guys stop wanting to bring up Bush's days off. Hell, by this time next year, we might have a comeback to your redundant references.

I think the bigger issue is why do presidents or any politicans have the need to campaign and fund-raise throughout the entire election cycle?? That, along with unscrupulous lobbyists will be the demise of democracy.

Knowing the party will need millions (billions now I guess, after 2008) for future challenges, and while his popularity is high (read: fund-raising capacity) better pull it in while you can. And please don't fool yourself into thinking for one second this is unique to either party.

sorry to be so cynical, but if any party isn't fundraising as hard as the other, I believe it's because they're getting more illegal under the table contributions that the other!

I usually use cut&paste on news articles and to prove I am not just spewing BS without facts. I most often make reference from where I got the material unlike others that just post their opinions without backing it up as to where they get their reference material or just make one sentence statements that are not factual.

lol, OK buddy, just didn't need to see that outline of how many days off Bush took since its been posted and discussed on many other threads. Bottomline is that where ever the president is, with today's tech he can and is probably working. What he's working on or not....now that could be an issue.

Also, you may not be spewing the BS, but doesn't mean your copy-paste source isn't.

Without a source regards,
Tom

Actually Bush beat Obama to the golf course.

Dana Milbank and Mike Allen of the Washington Post recently wrote (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A2676-2004Apr10.html) a story recalling those halcyon days in Crawford. On Aug. 7, 2001, the day after the fateful PDB, Bush, they wrote, "was in an expansive mood … when he ran into reporters while playing golf." The president's aides emphasized that he was working, now and then, on a few issues—

I think Roger is trying to say that he hates Bush, it's all Bush's fault and it's OK for Obama to do it because Bush started it.

I did not say Bush played golf more than Obama, I just said Bush played golf sooner into his presidency than Obama whatever difference that makes. But Obama playing golf seems to be a big deal here for some reason.

If even you admit that it makes no difference, then why post it?

Obama playing golf as much as he has IS a big deal. At this rate, Obama will play golf 91 times by the 34 month mark, when Bush played his 24th round. Don't you think that with the condition of the economy and his domestic 'priorities' (not to mention, some of the promises he made while campaigning) he could be spending his time a little more wisely? I find it strangely ironic that some of you continue to bring up how much vacation Bush had during his presidency, yet you do not care that Obama has spent so much time in his short presidency picking out a dog (and feeding him veal during his birthday bash) on vacation, on extravagant dates, on the links, at sports events, campaigning personally for the Olympics, helping with fund raisers for other democrats, etc. etc.

I understand that it is a stressful job and that time off is required. But, DAMN, there is a time to play and a time to get sh*t done.

BTW, I thought 2009 was going to be a tough year and we would all have to sacrifice to get through these tough economic times together? Isn't that what your messiah said? I guess it boils down to jealousy. I want to sacrifice like HE sacrifices!

I could say the same thing about Bush. How could he take so much time off when he had 2 wars to win. Woops, he did not win either did he?

I'm not defending Bush's actions, Marty McFly. I'm pointing out your hypocrisy. Your arguments would gain much credibility if you weren't such a huge hypocrite and Obama cheerleader.
