The Yadkin River Waterfowl and Retriever Club is excited to announce an upcoming training day we have planned for Saturday, March 20, 2010 to be held at the club's training grounds in Mebane, NC from 8:00 AM 5:00 PM.

The training day will be ran by professional trainer Al Arthur from Sandhill Kennels. The Arthurs have titled over 42 field champions and placed 75 plus dogs on the National Derby list with 15 being in the top five in the U.S.The Arthurs had 6 dogs that qualified and ran at the National Open this year with Al handling one all the way to the final series.

This opportunity is being provided to club members and prospects as a reward and to show appreciation for commitment to achieving the club's 2010 agenda and work at the Spring Hunt test (March 6 and 7). The YRWRC will absorb all costs associated with this event and there will be no charge to club members or paid prospects to attend this training day. At the end of the day, Al will take the time to discuss any training questions anyone has as well as provide his thoughts on what you and your dog need to work on and some things you can do to address open issues.

To get the maximum benefit from this day, when you request a slot please let me know what level your dog is and what specific issues you would like Al to address or work on with you and your dog.

a. This is a wonderful opportunity for the club to work with one of the top trainers in the country for a day.

b. This is meant to be a fun day and will focus on all levels of dogs to include the 6 month old puppy, the hunting dog, the master level retriever, and the field trial prospect. We would also like to encourage club members who are not currently running dogs or those who have spouses and/or kids that may have an interest in the sport to come out and participate. We will carve out some time during the day when the kids or spouses who may not want to stay all day can come out and run field trial champion dogs on some marks.

c. The club will host a cookout at the training grounds or provide lunch for participants.

d. The objective of this day is to have a good time and work on various training issues that may have arisen with you and your dogs. Al will also be taking note of strengths and weaknesses and work on planning a 2 day more intensive training day in May.

e. Please RSVP and let me know if you will be coming for sure, how many dogs you would like to bring, and if you will be bringing your spouse or children.

Attendance Requests will be prioritized based on:

1. Members and Prospects interested in joining the club that have paid their annual dues or new member application fee and worked at the hunt test and workday will get first priority.

2. If spaces still exists, members and prospects that missed a hunt test day or the workday will get second priority.

3. Those outside of the club that want to attend but are not pursuing membership will be third in line.
