View Full Version : In Sarah Palin administration, her spouse was active in state business

Officially he was the first gentleman of Alaska. More people called him the "first dude." But newly released e-mails show that Todd Palin was busy doing more than snow machine driving and salmon fishing during Sarah Palin's two and a half years as governor and vice presidential candidatehttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/2_bing.gif (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/35238034/ns/politics/#)

Nearly 3,000 pages of e-mails that Todd Palin exchanged with state officials, which were released to msnbc.com and NBC News by the state of Alaska under its public records law, draw a picture of a Palin administration where the governor's husband got involved in a judicial appointment (http://msnbcmedia.msn.com/i/msnbc/Sections/NEWS/palin_judicial_appointment.pdf), monitored contract negotiations (http://msnbcmedia.msn.com/i/msnbc/Sections/NEWS/palin_union_negotiations.pdf) with public employee unions, received background checks (http://msnbcmedia.msn.com/i/msnbc/Sections/NEWS/palin_dairy_background.pdf) on a corporate CEO, added his approval or disapproval (http://msnbcmedia.msn.com/i/msnbc/Sections/NEWS/palin_nominees.pdf) to state board appointments and passed financial information (http://msnbcmedia.msn.com/i/msnbc/Sections/NEWS/palin_bp_documents.pdf) marked "confidential" from his oil companyhttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/2_bing.gif (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/35238034/ns/politics/#) employer to a state attorney.

The governor coached her staff on how to disguise the amount of electrical work needed at the mansion to hook up her new tanning bed. (http://msnbcmedia.msn.com/i/msnbc/Sections/NEWS/palin_tanning_bed.pdf) Palin and her staff stewed over the refusal of the state Public Safety Department to provide a plane so the children could fly to Todd's family's home in Dillingham; after all, they were going to attend a bill signing, so the travel requests could be justified. Sarah Palin called the decision "outrageous (http://msnbcmedia.msn.com/i/msnbc/Sections/NEWS/palin_plane.pdf)," and an aide said it provides "a great excuse to privatize" the governor's jet service. The manager of the Palins' travel schedule searched for a public event to use as justification ("I just need one (http://msnbcmedia.msn.com/i/msnbc/Sections/NEWS/palin_willow_travel.pdf)") to charge the state for an airplane flight for Palin's daughter, Willow, who made the trip but had missed the event given as its justification. When Sarah Palin complained that the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner wrote a critical editorial after she did them the favor of meeting with the editorial board, Todd Palin advised the press chief (http://msnbcmedia.msn.com/i/msnbc/Sections/NEWS/palin_news_miner.pdf) to "take the news miner off the press release address list for a few days, see how long it takes them to realize their not on the list."

Roger, they had over 20 ethics complaints filed by libs with nothing better to do over this kind of BS. They beat every one of the charges, using their own money and state dollars wasted by her staff having to deal with this kind of malarkey. You guys need to get a life and worry about something that actually matters.

Man, this is their lives, as pathetic as it may seem. But what else would they do?; actually train dogs? ;-) JK

Barack Obama spent $26,000 of tax payer's money to take his wife to dinner and a play in New York.

Actually Kate ran her last field trial in January and her last hunt test last weekend. Kate will be 11 this July and has arthritic problems and Hooker has been retired for several years now because of hip displasia. So no, I am not training them any longer. I do have a younger male in training with Lynn Troy that I will get back sooner or later so I do have a bit more time on my hands now. :-P

Another inept comment to be expected by the Oracle from IHOP! Did they sour your syrup, Sambo? Or did they reduce your 'unlimited' pancakes?

OK then....let's see what the role has been of every spouse of a political figure. Let's see.....Hillary, and Michelle for starters.

Why would you ever want to ignore the lefts latest addition to the socialist agenda on RTF? Hellsbells, Sambo may be as much fun as that other complete joke, Remington. Gotta admit his messiah avatar was amusing eh?

It would be nice to know where Sambo comes from. It might be possible he is a figment of one of our august liberal's imaginations...and they are just looking for a way to antagonize while not being recognized...you know, like someone claiming to be an 'independant', but spews all the socialistic principles of a George Soros.

There seem to be quite a few libs around here claiming to be "Indies", but only a very few have the smarts to pull off a psuedo personality.

Come to think of it, there are none on here capable of that form of a shenanigan, so I reckon we're stuck with having to believe Sambo is what he claims to be... The IHOP Oracle.

You link to it through "user CP" on the blue bar. I've increased my enjoyment immensely since putting only ONE person on the ignore list. Maybe if they remember their aricept (or have someone remember to give it to them) and they aren't so hostile towards others, I'll take them off the "happy place" list! I never ignore someone for having a differing opinion or ideology, I listen to them more than those who agree with me. It's how one grows and learns. As my signature line says.....

The respones to my text was as scattered brained as Palin!

I'm not an independent and I'm no longer a republican, so that makes me a democrat. I use to buy into all the same rhetoric, but I've matured. This whole political debate is like rival football teams and both sides hate each other. I realize it is more entertaining, but most of you would do better if you blocked fox news and watched a good ball game or hunting show or turned of the radio and trained your dog.

In order, your past posts - there was the complaint about farm subsidies not being large enough :(, there was the anouncement that you were an alumnus of U Chicago, which made you capable of participation in an econ discussion :-P, & then there was the complaint you were not getting a large enough return on your CD's &MM funds .

So you're getting this piddly little farm subsidy, which as an alum of UChi you are only capable of investing like a neophyte .

As UB says, bringing your IHOP mentality to this forum is not enough! As Joe S says this is the DEEP end.

I do not train my own dogs...I do not have the time, but more so, I don't have the knowledge.

You clearly do not understand what you read. I was not complaining about MM rates, I was offering them. I'll take your money all day and fund loans with it.

I made the point that they pulled the rug out from under farmers to fund war instead of paying back debt. It would not have hurt as bad if it had been used responsibly.

Where did you study econ?

It's the presentation. If I can't understand what you presented, you're not getting your message across .

I grew up on a farm before subsidies, we did just fine ;-). I have absolutely 0000 sympathy for those who can't make it on their own.

Actually, we had a course in Econ 1001 at SDSM&T, UB would know where the school is located. In a nutshell, taught us about not putting your eggs in one basket, recognizing that there needed to be a reasonable assurance of the loanee being capable of paying the loaner, diversification within a segment, all basic stuff that the over educated seem to have forgotten :(. It's served me well .
