Reading "Fatted Leviathan" by Kent Osband in the National Review, 2-22-2010 edition page 41. Maybe someone more computer literate than I can link it :).
There is little that I disagree with except for the item that State & Local government salaries track the private sector, at least in our state. Public employees actually make more than 60% above the private sector without their bennies & early retire factored in.
They talk of how far underwater some states are regarding the promises made to their employees. CA being the worst, with NY, NJ & IL (& Cook County refused to cooperate in the study) right behind. It amounts to half of all money obligated state jurisdictions. This guy believes the HC bill was a political payoff to these states as they are not going to be able to meet their obligations. It makes a lot of sense! Nice to know that those of us who live in states with a minimal fiscal responsibility will get pick up that tab if the politico's have their way.
Good for those Obstructionists! Finally doing something the way it should be done .
