There is some truth to this. We just had our Primary elections here in Oregon. No huge issues, but obviously some very important ones. Voter turnout was expected to be less than 40%! How can you have a representative government that is accountable to the people, when nearly two thirds of the people are not participating? That makes my vote count a little more. I think it would be interesting to know how the ratio of voters to population has changed over the last 200 years.

well if our elected political officials actually listened to us and just didnt make decisions on there own we might give more support to them 70% of all americans didnt want the new health care bitt but it was passed anyway people in congress were just given bribes for there vote. if they wont listen to us vote all them bums out.
