I read some old posts on these, but figured I'd ask for opinions on some current models. Looking for something to range stickmen out to 400+ yards for training. I appreciate the suggestions.

I have an eight power pair of Leupold binocs with a built in laser range finder. I believe they say the range finder is good out to 800 yards. Anyway, if you can hold it steady enough on a stickman at 400 yards it'll tell you how far away it is.

I keep a Nikon rangefinder in my bag. Was just under 2 bills at walmart, and has worked fine out to 600 yards. (not on marks, mind you) Holding steady on a stickman is tough over a couple of hundred yards as Howard pointed out.
Oh, a nice feature is that it takes a regular AAA battery, not some expensive watch battery, and it has an auto-off, so you don't kill the battery. Mine sits in the garage all year, and I'm still on my first battery after a year.

I have a 600 yard Bushnell, was about $250 at Bass Pro.
