I think he was saying, don't pass the buck or make excuses for your screw ups.

He wasn't instructing them to take credit for the screw ups of others...

Bambi has been blaming his screw-ups on others since day one.

People often confuse establishing cause with passing the buck. For example,to say the cause of the financial meltdown that occurred in 2008 was the deregulation orchestrated by Alan Greenspan, the Republican Congress and signed enthusiastically by President Clinton 10 years earlier, is not placing blame. It is identification of the problem and its source. Until this step is taken successfully, you will never fix anything. Having read the text of Obama's speech to the students, it was, as is usual for him, a great speech. Especially considering this audience.
When Republican leaders quit whining and pointing fingers and start coming up with proposals for solutions, then maybe we'll start paying attention to them again. Until then, second place will have to do.

I've seen some high level Democratic and Republican incumbents going down in Primaries. The analysis I've read is that both Republicans and democrat incumbents are in trouble. The Tea Party is the threat to Republicans, and Progressives are pushing hard against conservative democrats. Other than a change in leadership in the Senate ( i can only dream), nothing of significance will likely occur after the next election cycle. If you're thinking the Republicans are going to do a redo of 1994, I could be wrong, but sorry I don't see that happening.

Perhaps you have missed their proposals.
- Drill baby drill.
- Kill the bill - this is all moving us to socialism.
- Obama is a socialist.
- All these Czars is bad (conveniently forgetting that all the folks simply replaced a previous appointee)
- Lower taxes (even though they are as low as ever).
- We just need incremental energy policy (more nuclear is the magic bullet)
- Less government (well, except when there is not enough, like in oil spills or when it comes to certain medical choices)
- Support family values - (well, at least in words)
I am sure I missed some too.

Keep on with the wishful thinking... we will have to drag this thread out in November. You libs don't want to believe that most of the country has awakened to the lie that is liberalism. We shall see.

And which lie is that? Is it the one about De-regulation leads to prosperity? Or maybe the one about "deficits don't matter"... Or perhaps you're referring to those illusive WMD in Iraq? Or the biggest lie of all, lower taxes on the wealthy = economic growth... Yep these right wing policies we've been implementing for 30 years are working out pretty good aren't they.

man o man- reading this tripe just does nothing but cement the fact that i HATE LIBERALS.

and i am 100% right. until you guys can convince me that- as a hunter and fisher all my life, i should follow a POTUS that opposes all of my life experiences, that also opposes gun ownership, and thinks that we "cling to our guns and religion".. LOL!

has zerO ever caught a fish ?? in real life? has he hunted?? at least clinton hunts ducks! the ONLY slack i give zerO is that he bodysurfed sandy beach in hawaii. i have done it and photographed it. that takes at least "some" balls. but it is nothing compared to standing on a board on a 15' wave. but i'll give him a point there.

now lets take it a step further - do ANY of you really think this POTUS gives one damn about our dogs? and our way of life and tradition of hunting?? or even fishing, no matter what type you do???

this transcends party boundaries people! Bill Clinton and even Carter would support retriever training and duck hunting! but not O.

and the bushes????? outdoorsmen as well, they fish and hunt. thats well known.

zerO is a man who doesnt give a crap about our lifestyle. he cant understand what its like to call in a flight of pintails over a Texas salt marsh or a flight of mallards over a Missouri cornfield. and sit in a deer blind? yeah.

every day i read this forum i get even more sick that certain members like this guy even tho he is diametrically opposed to everything any real man who considers himself an outdoors-man can espouse. to support zerO is literally to wish an end to us waterfowl hunters.

Is it a bit odd that the President of the US would give a commencement address at a high school? I can understand receiving groups at the WH, but a trip to Ohio for a high school graduation? Just seems odd.

You're obviously entitled to your views. But, don't insult my intelligence by suggesting Obama's critics need your guidance to differentiate "establishing cause" from "passing the buck". The guy has used this PTB tactic consistently to try to explain his administration's lack of successfully dealing with the issues that confront them. "How could we possibly succeed? The Republicans have made this an impossible situation", has been the thrust of his mantra, especially since his popularity has waned. He can turn a nice phrase. But, he has not shown himself to be a leader. He has shown no ability to, or ready interest in, substantially addressing the problems that most Americans really care about (jobs, the national debt, our wars). Instead, he appeased his voter base by forcing this healthcare overhaul down our throats, and clearly will try to force immigration reform on us at some point, again to appease a perceived bloc of votes, against the wishes of most Americans. Just because the Republicans have played their own part in the mess we find ourselves in does not mean that we have to fool ourselves into thinking that this POTUS is not a transparently unprincipled POS.

as usual, you don't have a clue. President Bush is an avid upland hunter. Cheney was not drunk when the shooting accident happened, where did you dream that up? What a doofus... speaking of doofus's, what did you do with your brother sambo?

Cheney and the secret service that folows him everywhere he goes admitted to Drinking during the afternoon prior to the hunt. Despite the requirements of State law no blood test was performed on the VP after he shot his friend in the face. You can draw your own conclusions.

Yeah. Let you, me, or Gibson be involved in a firearms accident, and send a buddy out to the gate (where the game warden obediently awaited being acknowledged!) and tell the game warden, 'he's not available....we'll give an interview tomorrow..." and see what happens!!

Also, from my experince, and I'm sure the public servants and medical personell will back me up on this...."one or two beers" after an accident or in an ER almost always means "at least a six-pak"!!

If you would ever be lucky enough to hunt or ride motorcycles with me you will NOT drink before or during the event, even if your Dick Cheney!!
(after would be OK!!:D)

Of course, you also would be disallowed if Rev Wright was your Pastor.;-)
etc. etc. etc!!
