It said that there were only 1000 internet devices in 1984? I was on the internets using a design program on a remote university mainframe back then. At the time, we didn't know it as the internet. You should have seen the modems we were using then. You know what those tool cases that look like stainless steel suitcases that field technicians run around the country with? That's what you carried the modem around in.

I still remember my first 1200 Baud modem....:D That was wicked fast after 300 baud modems linked in with a telephone handset holder.

I remember my 1200 baud modem....took it out of box and wondered where the hell you set the telephone?! I remember starting a download, then going to bed, hoping there were no emergency phone calls trying to get through, all in order to get a program that would..................calculate interest payments on a car loan!!!!
I wonder how long until we're laughing at a 2.66GHz with a 27" monitor?? Or iPods that "only" hold 38,000 songs!

Jeff, yep - used the telephone handset cradle type. I'll have to look on google and see if there are pictures of one.
