Sorry libs but Justice Kennedy has decided he isnt going anywhere till the end of BHO term.

Justice Anthony Kennedy, who is perhaps the most crucial vote on the Supreme Court given the amount of times he is the deciding vote in a 5-4 split, isnít planning on retiring any time soon:

WASHINGTON Ė President Obama may get liberal Elena Kagan on the Supreme Court, but conservative swing-voter Anthony Kennedy says heís not going anywhere anytime soon.

Justice Kennedy, who turns 74 this month, has told relatives and friends he plans to stay on the high court for at least three more years Ė through the end of Obamaís first term, sources said.

That means Kennedy will be around to provide a fifth vote for the courtís conservative bloc through the 2012 presidential election. If Obama loses, Kennedy could retire and expect a Republican President to choose a conservative justice.

Kennedy, appointed by President Ronald Reagan, has been on the court 22 years. He has become a bit of a political nemesis at the White House for his increasing tendency to side with the courtís four rock-ribbed conservative justices.

Kennedy isnít the only justice who might be expected to retire sometime in the next six years. By 2012, four Justices ó Kennedy, Scalia, Ginsburg, and Breyer ó will be over 75 and while we might see one more retirement in Obamaís first term the changes that are likely to occur in the Senate after November make it unlikely that Obama will be able to appoint candidates even as liberal as Sotomayor or Kagan.

When Obama put on his little hissy fit and insulted these guys on a national scale, they kept quiet.

Pay back is a biotch!!

I also was curious when a prerequisite for SCOTUS was being a lesbian?
(Obama's 2 appointments are openly gay)
Are there no MOMS that can qualify as a SCOTUS??
No men??

Only gay females??

I have seen nothing to support that claim....I really don't care what their sexual orientation is as long as it doesnt interfere with their job...I have a gay nephew and a lesbian niece so my views on sexual orientation may differ from most conservatives..;)

The president's agenda on healthcare and financial regulations sets the stage for a clash with the Supreme Court's conservative majority.

Reporting from Washington ó The Supreme Court wrapped up its term last week after landmark decisions protecting the right to have a gun and the right of corporations to spend freely on elections. But the year's most important moment may have come on the January evening when the justices gathered at the Capitol for President Obama's State of the Union address.

They had no warning about what was coming.

Obama and his advisors had weighed how to respond to the court's ruling the week before, which gave corporations the same free-spending rights as ordinary Americans. They saw the ruling as a rash, radical move to tilt the political system toward big business as they coped with the fallout from the Wall Street collapse.

With him being 74 there is no guarantee he will live to see 2012.

Let's hope he doesn't become an Enemy of the State.

Don't get excited RK, when Kagan said she's all for cameras in the courtroom, she meant to film CASES! :D:D

There's only ONE person who's sexual orientation matters to me....and since I'm married to her, I know she's straight! Other than that, I don't give a flying flip what anyone's personal life entails, so long as they put in an honest days' work, and if they're a judge.......they judge fairly.

Does her lack of judicial experience matter to you? Me-I don't know. The framers certainly didn't see fit to make it requisite for being appointed to the bench, and I wonder if a philosopher or any dedicated public servant wouldn't have just as good a grasp of the issues as a judge. Sometimes I think they miss the forest for the trees. If you think about it, many of the issues they rule upon are much larger social or philosophical issues, rather than issues defined within the law. If they were, they probably wouldn't have risen through the rest of the judicial system unanswered.

So....to you it is simply coincidence that his 2 appointees are gay?

At 58 years old I have come to the conclusion that there are NO coincidences.

Just sayin'

I like that belief that there are no coincidences. Ever read Redfield's Celestine Prophecy?

But wouldn't that make Obama a Lesbiophilic Muslim, which is one odd bird!
I'll take this PM for further discussion....I have some thoughts that if made pubic, would have me being accused of being conservative....even here!
