Authorized the ear-holing of Somali pirates.

Proposed a $708 billion defense budget to ensure our troops and dependents have the tools and means to accomplish what's being asked of them, and included the $150billion "overseas contingency operations" to provide full disclosure of the cost of the wars.

I think he will inspire a whole multitude of unemployed, ambivalent voters to get involved and vote this fall and in 2012 and take back control of this country...

He already inspired them to do so and vote a Republican into a Senate seat held by Ted Kennedy for 40+ years...

If he tries really hard he can help Harry Reid , Barbara Boxer and Charlie Crist to early retirements from public office

What does this have to do with Bush?

The question was name something he did good for the country. I came up with two.

Transparency on the cost of the war is an important little detail, since the same bodies that authorize war, have to authorize the spending for it. I found it frustrating that congress authorized a war (as a last resort) without looking at the pricetag. I've already taught my 8 year old how to look at prices before buying stuff. Maybe they should lower the minimum age for congressmen to 8 yo to increase the talent pool.

3 winters ago we trapped 76 hogs at our lease. They were really doing some damage to the food plots, fences, etc. The smaller ones were good eats.

Don't hold back...tell us how you really feel...:p

I'm not a big Obama fan, but the alternative in '08 was just not very impressive.

So don't expect a lot of help.

I'm sure you're familiar with search engines such as google. Look it up yourself. Keyword, "Obama's accomplishments". There are some noted. I'm sure we agree to disagree on their merit, however.

BTW, thanx for not not blaming Obama for Linsay Lohan. It's about the only thing you forgot.

dnf, why in Gods name would Obongo have to authorize the ear-holing of Somali pirates. Weren't they holding an American citizen hostage? Generally speaking, when shooting people on the high seas or in other nations' waters, its a good idea to have clearance from above just local command.
How you compare a situation on the high seas involving a flagged vessel with an established war zone is beyond belief. You wing-nuts never cease to amaze me!

dnf is 100% right here, this was not authorized by local command. it took a while if you read up about it, about 36 hours. my guess it went something like this:

seals to local command: we have them in our sights, sir, and can drop all 3 at once together.
local command to seals: roger that, we will send it up.
local command to pentagon: our boys have them in their sights, sir, and can take them out and free the captain as soon as you say go.
Pentagon to local command: roger that, will send it up.
Pentagon to O: sir, our boys have them in their sights and can take them out and free the captain as soon as you say go.
O to pentagon: damn it, you interrupted my tee off on hole 1 and i dropped my cigarette answering the phone. i'll get back to you after my golf game and dinner with michelle in NY and after my dog pulls me around the yard.

35:59:30 later:
pentagon to O: have you made a decision yet sir? the captains life depends on it.
O to pentagon: what? oh yeah, that. shit you guys can be such pests with your formality and regimen of command. hmm, i dont know jack about these kinds of things, and i dont have a teleprompter handy. what should i do?
Pentagon to O: you should say "go ahead" sir.
O to Pentagon: umm, ok, if you say so. now let me get back to my hollywood stars admiration party in my honor
pentagon to local command: take them out!
local command to seals: take them out!
seals: splat!splat!splat! mission accomplished sir!

if you call that authorization then yes, Obama authorized it. what a hero!!!

Bush blames crisis on events from ten years ago

#fullpost{display:inline;}In other words, it's all Bill Clinton's fault. Right. The Republicans continue to pin all of this on Clinton and the poor. Clinton most certainly helped promote lending policies that helped poor minorities who were previously blocked out of the system though to lay blame on that is an extreme stretch. Again, it wasn't the poor who decided to repackage those loans and offer high returns, cashing in with bonus money at each step. It wasn't the poor who decided to hand out liar loans, again making a healthy commission for the sale. It wasn't the poor who fed the commercial real estate boom. It wasn't the poor who chose not to provide traditional oversight or ask questions about over-extended banks. The scope of the credit crisis is so much larger than offering fair access to loans.

In the coming months as the losses mount and the crisis deepens - and it will most certainly get worse - the Republican response will be precisely what Bush is promoting as he's ushered out the door. The GOP approach has failed completely but that's not going to stop them from attempting to throw the blame on the Democrats and the poor (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081202/ap_on_go_pr_wh/bush_interview;_ylt=Aue0vdo9NGsV.LAOX0HhiG.s0NUE). To accept their theory is to ignore the trillions sold around the globe and millions paid out to Wall Street along the way. As on other subjects, Bush has nothing so is hoping that "the future" will somehow absolve him of any guilt on this failure.

3.
Bush blames Clinton's Mideast summit for current disaster (?!)

The audacity of that Texas truckdriver and White House burglar George W. Bush continues to amaze. On British television, Bush blamed Clinton for the disaster in the Middle East. This is too good! We must let the man's words speak for themselves (as reported by the Associated Press on "Yahoo News" (http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20020406/ap_on_go_pr_wh/bush_clinton_4)) :
"It wasn't all that long ago where a summit was called and nothing happened, and as a result we had significant intefadeh in the area," Bush said.
This is obviously the schoolboy president's way of trying to divert attention away from his own inaction during the first year of his presidency while the Israeli-Palestinian situation degenerated into the savagery we are now seeing.
Here's how Bush explains it: "The problem is, the American president, when he calls a summit, better get it right. If a summit fails, if the president ... lays it out there and nothing happens, generally the ... follow-up is worse than the status quo." This then explains clearly his policy of doing nothing at all. According to this logic, trying only makes things worse. Obviously the chance of a summit failing is high in such an incendiary situation as the one between Israel and the Palestinians. Bush neglected to explain why attempting to help negotiate a settlement would make things worse. Bush's neglect of the entire situation - or his encouragement of the bloodthirsty instincts of Sharon -- has certainly not helped.
