ABC 7.5 million viewers
NBC 7.1 million viewers
CBS 1.6 million viewers
F0X 2.9 million viewers (Bill O'Reilly)

Compared to the Lapdog news operations, it looks like Fox News is basically preaching to the choir.

Franco, I think you misread the CBS numbers, looks like you posted the 24-54 demo for them. This is cut and pasted from the link you provided:

Total viewers: ABC: 7,530,000 / NBC: 7,170,000 / CBS: 5,930,000

25-54 demo: ABC: 2,200,000 / NBC: 2,070,000 / CBS: 1,680,000

25-54 rating: ABC: 1.8/8 / NBC: 1.7/8 / CBS: 1.4/6

Keep that man away from your spreadsheets! ;-)

Actually Buzz, you have brought a bigger mistake to may attention as I was posting this while on the phone.

adults 25 -54 years of age is where the money is for broadcasters. That's the audience they target because that is the audience most advertisers want to reach.

The 2.9 million for O'Reilly is adults 25-54!

Which tells me that ABC, CBS and ABC's audience is old, over 54! Old audiences are too hard to influence with advertising.

Also, one-third of households in the USA do not subscribe to Cable or Satellite, most of them elderly, poor or both.

All of which means that O'Reilly beats the broadcast news outlets and Hannity is basically tied with them in the coveted Adults 25-54 demo.

Franco, I know you can read better than this! Your link says that it's 2.95 million "total viewers." It says:

Fox News also drew 461,000 viewers in the coveted A25-54 demo.

If we're going to argue with numbers, we need to keep them straight!

Well, that's what I get for posting the lastest rating while trying to do something else!;-)

No more double tasking while posting.

Still doesn't change the fact that the major audience for news is over 55 years of age. Looks like the Weather Channel has some serious competition.

Those are the folks who vote, aren't they? I imagine they are as hard to influence politically as they are to get by advertisers.

I hope you weren't taking notes on your phone call... ;-)
