anyone try using one of the red dot sights? do they help? i mean, i hit the birds and all, but if it elevates my game, why not, less times that my dog looks at me like a bonehead for missing.

Are you talking about the Speed Bead Sight? If so I have one that I use for turkey hunting on my Benelli. It works great for that. Saturday was opening day of Dove season for us and I left it on my gun to try it out. I couldn't hit squat with it. I ended up putting my Benelli away and shooting my Ithaca 20ga O/U. The problem I had was being able to keep a proper lead with it. If the birds were pretty high up or farther out the lead was past the frame of the sight. Over all it just didn't work for me. As soon as I got home that day I took it off and put it in the safe. It'll stay there until turkey season again.

Buy a Hi-viz Fiber optic bead and you'll be fine with that. $40 well spent.
