Wouldn't surprise me........

I am so excited, I have not been duck hunting in 5 seasons.
God had another plan for me.:(

But I get to go again this season (next weekend)!!:D

I am so pissed, it's in the upper 80's today.
Can't train.

The pup is fired up, ready to go!
Hell, my GF even wants to go!!!:D

BTW--I will have some pics of an estuary I hunt off of Lake Michigan in Door Cty WI.
I bow hunted near it last year and in late Oct. early Nov. they were pounding all day long.
Big water ducks.
I got to send Elvis on a couple retrieves with some fellas hunting there last season.
He was 9 months old, that little bugger fought the rollers and got those ducks.
I just can't wait!!!!

I have not hunted ducks since I was a kid at home on the farm. Many. many years ago but that does not keep me from enjoying all other hunters' tales.
Back then Dad leased a farm that contained 600 acres from a well to do family of lawyers in a near by town. They did not hunt that I ever knew of and had no idea what that swamp land was good for. They decided to let a guy drain it and that ruined the best duck hunting in the county as far as I was concerned. I never managed to kill a single duck with my little 410 but the dogs and I had a blast every fall that there was water in the swamp.

Be careful what you assume...

One of Roux's first hunts before we knew what a field trial was.

One of Prissy's first hunts. She is just a bit wired. Note the ecollar, chain, and leads on her. The healing stick is in the blind. She will be a week past 2 years old and running her first Qual in Oct. Love this little black girl.

Me at 56 years old and Prissy at 14 months old making a nice little gun dog though still a bit wired.

Prissy and Gene after a river hunt last January.

http://www.bayoumagicretrievers.com/images/Hunts2009-10/wJan-2010-Jacks1.jpg

Roux and Gene after a morning when we took turns and called the shots at greenheads. The pond in the background looks like a setting in the Ozark Mountains. It is not.

And finally, my late friend, Gene Taylor, who I miss terribly. This picture was taken last season at the watershed, one of our go to honey holes. I've always loved the anticipation of a new season...but not this year.

Great photos! Frank P., love the one of Prissy with all her hardware
This is my go-to honey hole, and I don't care if you find the GPS on it because this is my farm and we have ways of dealing with trespassers....;)http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q254/HopeSpringsFarm/FallBeauty.jpg

And this is my lil freaky-eyed pup, the one in my avatar, that nobody wanted, that didn't learn to swim til she was a year old; I couldn't even give her away as a nice house pet. Finally had her FF at 14 mos., then ran in a few derbies where she really held her own against dogs that were on the derby list/on pro trucks before she knew how to swim! And despite my DAH, she finished two of the four
This was my husband and her first hunt, she was 17 mos. He had my gun and the made dog, Puffin. I had Panda on a stout chain, and the camera. We were just watching but after Puffin paraded by with her 2nd goose Pander was beside herself so we let her get a couple.

RK. Dont know exacly were you hunt but did you ever try mud lake in door county. Buddy and i went two years a go and had a blast. Kinda tough to get to but with all the rain this year the river should be full. Been a while for me to and getting fired up also . Hopefully my little star will be to.

Some of the pics are great ! Thanks for sharing. I dont carry a camera with me to many times, so sorry, no pics to share.

One of my favorite duck places is a small 12 foot wide windy little stream. Late season, when everything else is frozen, this little stream is always open in spots. Mallards and blacks love it, and so do I. 8 or 9 decoys, and a mojo is all you need. Lots of natural cover, so all you have to do is crouch down, and kill the birds as they swing in for their landing. Beautiful !

But in all honesty, the best spot is wherever you find the X. As long as the landowner says, yeah, go ahead.
