View Full Version : Palin on the National Anthem screw-up

It seems that Palin would just like to get rid of anyone who doesn't quite measure up to her standards.

Here she is on Hannity...

"Quite frankly, Sean, public figures must be held accountable for what they say," explained Palin. "Here's another case of an airhead diva going on TV, running her mouth off, sounding like a fool. She doesn't understand something so basic about America, yet we're supposed to tolerate her diva behavior? Americans can see through that, Sean."

. . .

"If I were president, I'd deport Ms. Aguilera back to wherever it is she's from and give Amy Smart a call."

I guess if she were president, she'd be the decider...

Ms. Aguilera is from Wexford, Pa. Last time I checked, Pennsylvania is part of the United States, rendering her ineligible for deportation.

We just can't have "air-headed divas who don't know geography" making such statements.

Soot calling charcoal black regards....

Maybe Christina should have written the words on her hand.

Seriously, I hadn’t heard anything about these comments. Seems like it would have been in the news more. I hope it is just a joke. I hope Palin wasn’t stupid enough to actually say something like that.

This is a PRIME example where Palin just needs to SHUT THE H... UP...some how she feels the need to comment on every single news item in pop culture, which just exposes her to more gaffes. But she is so drunk on her own celebrity attention that she sees that camera light go on and she thinks its her cue to start talking...she will if she hasnt already torpedo her own presidential aspirations, because of her lack of constraint

If it's made up, I take this thread back.

Jumping on the lib bandwagon a little quick there Bon. April 1st is still a little ways off. Hook, line and sinker regards...

It's ironic that she could say the same thing about you whenever her name gets mentioned on this board. ;-)

I know, I know...when Buzz links anything that's not in video format chaos is bound to be the result.

Yes she screwed the Anthem up pretty bad but, this is so trivial all it rates is barely water cooler talk. Janet Jacksons "wardrobe malfunction" was more interesting than Aguilara's horrible singing.

Yup I swallowed the hook...line and sinker...isnt the first time, wont be the last, and I am definitely NOT on the Palin bandwagon...jumped off of it right after I voted for her and McCain

How many out there are willing to admit that...;)

Buzz, a purveyor of lies and misinformation much like Roger. You have pretty much jumped the shark and believe even the most ludicrous of accusations. It is a shame really. Your zeal to support your political position has allowed your credibility to be co-opted.

'Oopsies!': Us Weekly apologizes to Sarah Palin over using fake quotes
Sarah Palin. (Reuters)
Whoops!

Us Weekly ran a story quoting Sarah Palin demanding that Christina Aguilera be “deported” over her botched performance of the national anthem at Super Bowl XLV.

The only problem: It never happened.

The item “quoted” Palin trashing Aguilera as “a demanding beauty queen who’s clearly in over her head” and adding for good measure, “If I were president, I’d deport Ms. Augilera back to wherever it is she’s from and give Amy Smart a call.”

The fake quotes originated from an Onion-like satirical web site, relaying a fictional radio interview between the former Governor of Alaska and Fox News host Sean Hannity.

Other choice “quotes” from Palin that fooled Us Weekly included, “Here’s another case of an airhead diva going on TV, running her mouth off, sounding like a fool. She doesn’t understand something so basic about America, yet we’re supposed to tolerate her diva behavior?” and “Unemployment is at nine percent, yet we have to suffer through a performance by a foreigner with a poor grasp of the English language?”

Us Weekly apologized for their mistake Thursday saying, “Oopsies...our bad!”

"I had no interview with Sean [Hannity] and I have never bashed Christina," Palin told Us. "In fact, I've defended her by telling folks to back off the criticism of her mistake. I was telling my kids right after her national anthem issue blew up that people needed to lay off her mistake. And then to read to that I condemned her

Great news source. Appartently they don't have fact checkers.

Yeah, Buzz...I must say, for someone who's constantly harshin' on "faux news," you don't seem too chagrined (properly or otherwise) about your Rachel Maddow moment of fobbing off on us an Onion-esque article as if it were the gospel. I'm just sayin'.....;-)

Don't need to wink about that, John. Now that Olberdork is gone to the Algore channel (and as Jay Leno said, he's an "investigative reporter," assigned to finding a viewer of that channel), we can expect Rachael Madcow to 'step it up a notch' so messnbc continues to stay as obnoxious as before.

This entire fiasco was amusing because of the usual guppies that bought into it. Shouldn't raise any eyebrows, however, since we know most of their 'news' comes from the comedy channel....and when have they ever tried to lead on their viewers?
