It is so frustrating to see how futile the attempts are to shut these reactors down (dump water on them??) here on the planet while 41 years ago we were able to fix a space capsule and return it home safely. I know it's not the same but frustrating none the less. :(

One can only hope that lessons have been learned from the things that failed in Japan. Some simple things like having some back-up generators parked somewhere off-site?

The whole nuclear reactor issue has been so over hyped by the media. It is perfect for them because it plays on the fears and ignorance of people leading to bigger ratings .
Don't misunderstand me, this is serious but when help up to the estimated 16000 people who might have died and the half a million who are homeless and are having a hard time finding food and water it, just doesn't wash. The suffering from the earthquake and tsunami are the real issues

"The best laid plans of mice and men oft go awry." ;-)

Kinda like having a tiger by the tail.

I hope one thing comes of this. It's way past time to start removing spent fuel that's been piling up at our nuclear plants for the last 30-40 years off the property and to somewhere safer like for instance Yucca Mountain?
