Woman Tied to 9/11, Fannie Mae on Obama's FBI Shortlist!
By Chris Neefus, CNSNews.com

The Obama administration reportedly is considering former Clinton administration official Jamie Gorelick, among others, to become the next director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

The Wall Street Journal’s Evan Perez first reported the news last week, citing “U.S. officials” familiar with the situation.

Gorelick served as vice chairman of the Federal National Mortgage Association (Fannie Mae) when the government-sponsored enterprise began bundling subprime loans into securitized financial instruments. Prior to that, she served as deputy attorney general in the Clinton Justice Department under then-Attorney General Janet Reno from 1994 to 1997.

...

But Gorelick is perhaps best known for her 1995 memo, written when she was deputy attorney general, that later became known as “Gorelick’s Wall,” a policy prescription limiting the flow of information between intelligence gatherers and criminal investigators that some believe helped allow the September 11, 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center to go unchallenged.

It's not April 1st yet, so this can't be an April fools joke. It seems just when you think the Obama administration cannot go any lower, they prove you wrong.

This is like the nomination of Andrew Traver to head BATFE, described as "putting an arsonist in charge of the fire dept." & "an episodically dishonest campaigner against Americans’ right to keep and bear arms". His biggest qualification - being friends with Ken Bennett, who served as director for then-Senator Obama's Illinois office. Also, his role as an adviser to an antigun-violence conference attended by Chicago Mayor Richard Daley proves that he's an "antigun zealot." Traver is also involved in the International Association of Chiefs of Police, which lobbies for tougher firearms laws
It reflects on the ideology of the Admin. at a critical point in time. An agency involved in the regulation of a fundamental, individual right guaranteed under the U.S. Constitution should not be led by an individual with a demonstrated hostility to that freedom.

Gorelick's often stated position of increased governmental access to private information is certainly in line with PBO's DoJ actions. And I'm SURE our sensitive info will just as safe as the money when she was at Fannie Mae, when (from Wiki)
"Even though she had no previous training nor experience in finance, Gorelick was appointed Vice Chairman of (Fannie Mae) from 1997 to 2003. She served alongside former Clinton Administration official Franklin Raines. During that period, Fannie Mae developed a $10 billion accounting scandal.
On March 25, 2002, Business Week interviewed Gorelick about the health of Fannie Mae. Gorelick is quoted as saying, "We believe we are managed safely. We are very pleased that Moody's gave us an A-minus in the area of bank financial strength – without a reference to the government in any way. Fannie Mae is among the handful of top-quality institutions." One year later, Government Regulators "accused Fannie Mae of improper accounting to the tune of $9 billion in unrecorded losses".
In an additional scandal concerning falsified financial transactions that helped the company meet earnings targets for 1998, a "manipulation" that triggered multimillion-dollar bonuses for top executives, Gorelick received $779,625.
Investigation by the OFHEO detailed in their official report on the accounting scandal in 2006 on page 66 that from 1998 to 2002 Gorelick received a total of $26,466,834.00 in income.

Sounds like she'll fit right in to the Obama Admin.

No doubt a tactic to get the real candidate approved. Float the most outlandish, unqualified, extremist, crazy illogical person you can find for the position. Then, when the ensuing firestorm subsides and after it is clear this could never happen and the name is withdrawn, find a left wing extremist candidate that is at least palatable.

Was she not on the 9/11 commission? Some nagging memory is sayine that the commission had to adopt a special rule(s) to limit discussion on the 1995 memo because of her presence?
