Last night some friends and I killed a skunk ape/bigfoot in the Everglades. After a well coordinated effort and prolonged fight we captured and killed, I mean just killed…yeah just killed the beast. It was regretful that he had to be killed but the beast was armed with a weapon and we had no choice…oh wait….ummm, ok well it was not armed but the female bigfoot was…oh no she was not either, but she did come at us so we shot her in the leg. Now of course we know that finding conclusive proof that skunk apes/bigfoot’s exist is a big deal, so we took some DNA samples and pictures before, in keeping with skunk ape tradition we dumped it in the Gulf of Mexico. What? You would like to see the pictures……? Um, well, um…..no that would not be a good idea because bigfoot’s around the world (Yeti’s bigfoot’s, skunk apes…) would be enraged and cause problems for all of us. You want the DNA evidence? Um, well, OK….give me a few minutes to type up a lab report…I mean let me get a piece of paper that says it was done. See right there on top of the report it is from a lab so you know we could not make this up. Come on guys I said I killed a skunk ape, I have pictures and proof isn’t that enough? How dare you question me…..

If you believe
there's nothing up my sleeve, then nothing is cool
Here's a little agit for the never-believer.

Actually no, I would expect any sitting president to do the same. I don't fault this, just the accuracy of what has been reported to the people.
The question I ask is what proof has been offered that UBL was killed? As far as I can tell it is so because the president said it is so. I do not doubt that they killed him and I don't care how they did it. I am a scientist and therefore a skeptic of anything that is not proven with a reliable source other than someones word. Much like the birth certificate thing (and no I was not a birther), just show the photos and video (of course we are now being told there may not be any video of the actual raid...or at least there was a 20-25 minute black out of video) and be done with it. Put the speculation to rest.

Everything this administration does will be out in the open for all to see

My only issue with it is that Obama said showing the picture would be "spiking the football," and that would be bad, then heads to ground zero to "spike the football."

In explaining his choice not to release the photo, Mr. Obama said that "we don't need to spike the football."

Here is what I think. When Donald Trump was beating his chest calling for President Obama to produce his birth certificate, Obama was waiting for some of the Republican Presidential hopefuls to jump on the Donald's band wagon so he could make them look like fools also. When they did not do that, Obama produced his long form birth certificate. Not that is probably just as forged a document that the short form was. And as far as UBL being killed, I don't think so. Obama's poll numbers were down and falling fast. He had to do something to get the numbers to climb back up for his next run for the Presidency so he fabricated the story about UBL being found and killed and when next summer rolls around he will pull the troops from Iraq, declare a victory there and be a shoo in for his second term. What do you think righties????????????;-)

The American public is being whipsawed by a manipulative, divisive mass media which seeks to separate you from the truth and each other. Sheeple to the left and sheeple to the right. Fact is I think the smarter ones among you know this is happening to you and your countrymen but accept itt and cling to the stories that fit closest to your own political inclinations.

We've gone from wild euphoria over the death of OBL, and acclaim for the elite Navy Seals....to outrage that your president had not yet apologized to Seals sanctioned earlier....to doubting the account of the Seals and the assassination itself.

Bread, Circuses ... and War keeping you in your place, regards

These last few days have created feelings that many of us had forgotten in the 9+ years since the immediate aftermath of the September 11th attacks. I can’t speak for everyone, but in the winter of 2001 after the feelings of horror and anger subsided, a feeling of pride, unity, and commonality overwhelmed me for months. I was the least partisan I’d ever been in my life. For a while, I would think to myself, “Hey self, the Democrats may be bumbling idiots that want to create a socialist utopia, but they’re our bumbling idiots that want to create a socialist utopia.”

Unity was on the tips of everyone’s tongues as national pride blanketed the country. Interestingly, those months following September 11th, the Bush administration made the wise choice to not squander and diminish that unity.

The Obama administration seems to have no such desire to do the same having decided for Americans what level of closure they can receive in regards to the bloody end of Usama Bin Laden.

Today, President Obama assured the American public that Bin Laden was indeed dead, not only confirmed by DNA but also by his own eyes. You see apparently, President Obama felt the need to look at the photo in order to confirm for himself that what was being claimed had indeed taken place. For the rest of America, that will just have to be good enough.

One of the reasons given is a fear that it will embolden radicals in the Middle East and cause them to retaliate, attack, or otherwise really not like us. Who knows? They may even burn a flag or two. This reasoning holds no water. Anyone who viewed Bin Laden as a Muslim leader in the first place is already no friend of the United States and probably doesn’t need to see a photo to want us all dead.

The photo is making it’s rounds in the United States Congress as of this writing. For what purpose? One would assume that the individuals we elected feel a need to see the photo for their own personal confirmation.

Like a wake at a funeral except with less crying. This is an understandable desire and one in which the President of the United States has decided the rest of us cannot have fulfilled.

One would hope that while President Obama is applying moral equivalencies to the situation that at least our own GOP would be wiser.

Apparently some, like GOP House Intel Chairman Mike Rogers, are not.
Said Rogers:

“Imagine how the American people would react if Al Qaeda killed one of our troops or military leaders, and put photos of the body on the internet,”
Jimmie Bise has the go-to piece (http://www.sundriesshack.com/2011/05/04/the-gop-house-intel-chairs-stunning-display-of-insult-and-ignorance/) for taking down this flawed way of thinking.

Once again, the concern is for the enemy. No I’m not saying all Muslims are the enemy. But we’ve been told over and over that the moderate Muslims are on our side and just as horrified at the events of 9-11 as we are. That being the case, it should be completely understandable that we need personal confirmation and closure here, just as we understood the same about Saddam Hussein and the need for the Iraqi people to have visual confirmation.

Anyone who claims that this is some type of “death porn” desire by myself and others is missing the point. Anyone who claims that it’s to settle wild conspiracy theories is purposefully distracting from the point. This is about the people in this country that have a need to see what they have been waiting 10 years to see. The orchestrator of an American nightmare dead, and no longer in a position to inflict harm on us. But more importantly, getting to literally see that justice was served.

But to this administration, and apparently to Rep. Rogers, our needs have to take a back seat. We need to make sure that the Muslims that idolized this monster get closure by providing them with a fully compliant funeral within 24 hours of the kill. The media gets their closure because their narrative is complete: President Obama succeeds where President Bush fails. The President himself gets closure because, unlike us, he saw the photo and confirmed with his own eyes and by his own adult decision to look, that Usama was dead.

But the biggest closure goes to Al Qaeda. They were able to witness an administration that is so petrified of upsetting them that they would sooner give an honorable funeral to a mass murderer than provide a simple photo to help close the darkest chapter in American history.

And I can’t speak for you, but that feeling of unity I mentioned at the beginning of this writing? It’s gone. And it didn’t have to be.

As to my own views...I'll go with the dude that penned this:

The US position on Bin Laden’s shooting should be that of an epitaph that was written on a grave on The Dodge City, Kansas Boot Hill. “He kept on asking for it until he got it!”

Another one of those that I wish I had said it.;-)
