Well I labeled it GDG but not sure if there is a such a thing on POTUS, I was just curious how many of you ride and what kind of bike you ride.

I rode for awhile, then sold the bikes after 2 hip surgeries, they were not related to the motorcycle. I am now the proud owner of a 73 Sears allstate (oil injected 2 stroke) and a 70 Sears 106(4 stroke) both bikes need work, but I am restoring them for my dad who recently passed away. He owned alot of bikes in his time but always talked about his sears bikes, although thinking about it I do not know if they were all good stories. I am more of a fair weather rider to be honest, he was not, snow, ice, sleet, rain, freezing temps and he always rode if we wanted to, he never let the waether change his mind.

I have owned a few crotch rockets, 2000 Yamaha 600rr,07 Honda CBR 600, now the old Sears will hopefully see the road again. I will post pics as soon as I can.

So what about you guys?

Oh and if you do not ride, or think it is so dangerous you want to thorn in the side of those who like to ride, go preach it somewhere else.

I just sold a V-star a few months back. I ride a 2000 Suzuki Bandit 1200 now. I'm over cruisers and don't care to ride crotch rockets, so this is my current "ideal bike".
Those Sears bikes have got to be the coolest bikes I've ever seen! Please keep us updated on the resto! Who built them for Sears? I've never even heard of them. They sort of have a British look to them, don't they?

Over the years I owned and rode BSA's, Triumph's, Moto-Guzzi's, Ducati's and some from Spain and Eastern Europe I can't even remember the names of. Bultaco rings a bell, so does Jawa. I even had a Vespa for a while. (Bella Roma) Always wanted a BMW tourer, but never did it.
Parts and maintenence were always a challenge as dealers and importers came and went. Then Honda came. I had several, long gone now.

My last was a 350 Honda I sold to a rancher tired of horses. He called it "his marvelous horse without shit". I taught him to ride standing on the pegs as he checked his fence line.

I haven't owned a motor-cycle for some time now...maybe I'll get geriatric crazy though.:) When I stop running dogs.

Here's a pic of the Road King I sold last year I'm now riding a soft tail that I got in Cali. and rode back to Ohio in four days.

The sears bike looks like a cool project, but where are you getting parts?
I had a 71 Bonneville and it took some time to find suppliers for parts.
Keep us updated on the project I'm interested in it.

They were made by a few European companies, but mainly by Puch. They were ordered from the catalog just like a stove or anything else from Sears. The black thing on the Headlight is actually the key. Oil injected 2 strokes are pretty cool especially a twingle style motor.

They never sold very well because when they came out so did the Hondas of the same size and for another $150 the Honda was way faster. The Sears Allstate sold for around 150-200 brand new from the catalog. Another cool thing is even if the bike was made in 1970 but did not sell until 1973 it was titled as a 1973 or 1974 etc. They also were not perfect from the factory so the resto is a bit of a pain to be restored to factory specs.

mine are in about as many pieces as when they came in the box. Well except for that dang speedo cable that wont come loose. Slow and steady will win the race, I may be finished by the time I am 50. Gives me another 22 years and a few days to complete them.

Keep in mind I'm SHORT, so my selection is limited and I only started riding about a year and half ago...Honda Shadow 650...got it used and for a great price!

And at the time the only helmet I had was the one I used when riding ATVs...

I used to have a few. I'm down now to just my Royal Star, a couple of old junker dirt bikes and a 1967 BSA B44R Victor restoration that I never get time for.

That's what the BSA should look like if I ever finished it (that's not my bkie in the photo). Mine's just in boxes and bags right now. http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t231/trackerlab/2c9aa984.jpg

almost bit it yesterday on the bike going home from work. Green Bay, hwy 29 on-ramp to 41S. guess I wasn't paying attention and the line of traffic had stopped in front of me. Guy in front of me didn't see it either and all I saw was brake lights and smoke coming from his tires. I grabbed the clutch/brakes and felt my back end starting to slip out from under me so I quickly left off the brakes and steered around the car in front of me, onto the gravel edge. looked back and the SUV that was behind me was right on the bumper of the car that was in front of me. be careful out there people.

quick thinking regards
