I am just getting into hunt trials and training pups for hunt trials. Sure would appreciate any help about an event going on and how everything works.

Huh?
If there is a seminar that you'd like to attend? If so, I suspect you need to sign up.

For an event (test or trial), pretty much all you need to do is show up. They usually crank up early in the morning and run all day. Wear cammo or dark clothing so you don't distract the dogs. Don't park in the shade (let the folks with dogs have those spots).

Most test/trials have a centralized headquarters where folks come and go throughout the weekend...sometimes they sell food and t-shirts. I suspect they'll be able to direct you to the spots where the action is (more than likely there will be signs along the roads). You don't really need to check in...just bring a chair and make some friends.

Best place to start is: http://www.akc.org/rules/index.cfm for the rules and regulations for the various AKC games.

The hunt test season for NorCal is at its summer break as temps are usually too high for the dogs during the summer months. Most NorCal hunt tests are held in the early spring. As you know it is not unusual for the temps in your area to get over 100+ each summer. The hunt tests will resume again this fall , usually around October in the Fairfield area. Check AKC: http://www.akc.org/events/search/ for more details.

There are a few field trials coming up kinda near your area. Shasta Cascade will have their summer test over at Klamath Falls the w/e of June 6. And Sacramento Valley will have their summer trial the w/e of July 22 at Davis Lake near Portola.

Not much in the way of seminars that I know of. Marin RC is hosting a Hunt Test judges seminar June 25th at Grizzly Island.

Best bet is to get in contact with Lassen RC or Marin RC and see about training days in your area. Usually they host a couple training days over the summer at either Clear Creek (Corning) or the Investment Properties (Anderson).
