From 45,000 troops down to 3,000 troops in 4 mos? That's a massive reduction in such a short period of time.

Might help the budget deficit if we don't continue to send massive amounts of aid there ... and no one watching whose pockets it will line.

saw Mrs. Clinton was a bit miffed at the number. She wanted to keep 10,000 not 3,000...... Might be time for her to make her move. Then we would have some fun arm chairin' it all woulden't we?

Probably not even 10,000 could keep the lid on the tribal rivalries that will be rampant once the bulk of US forces leave. What could 3,000 possibly do? They might as well bring them all home.

Should have brought all the troops home after we didn't find any WMD's in 2003.

Exactly, 3K troops is like asking them to defend the Alamo against the horde of hell bent insurgents...of those 3K troops more than half are support personnel, so in reality you have a battalion of around 1300 who could be overrun with one felled swoop...once again this POTUS thinks he know better than those that do this kind of stuff for a living

I'm ready to bring the troops home. Let those idiots fight their own war.

I am not smart enough to have an answer but I would really hate to be one of that 3000.

Deja vu!

Nixon got good press for bringing the troops home, and not much negative press for the shambles left in VN. The failing in VN, as in Iraq, has been the lack of fortitude in stomping on corruption. I really believe the US would get more respect by standing up to corruption than being PC about it.

3,000 would be sacrificial lambs to the slaughter. At least in VN they took everybody home.

not really...we left a lot of POW-MIA unaccounted for, and not to mention all the bastard children left behind...
