First/second series was an interrupted land triple. Ma/Pa retired birds thrown at 350 yards--guns walk out quite a ways from a tree'd spot/retire into the same tree'd area. Mama thrown left angle back. Papa thrown right flat. Flyer gun is visible way to the right at 300 yards. Pull off the dead bird double and run a short land blind (125 yds) down the hill (right of the flyer station), between 2 sets of goose shells, jump a small log and up hill into the woods a little. Deliver the blind retrieve and set up for the flyer out of a winger angle back right. Pick up the flyer. Then, pick up the two retired birds. Terrain is hilly/cow pasture, with sandburrs. 43 dogs started, 16 back.

64 starters.
Land marks were a triple. Middle bird #1 thrown angle back right @ 250 yrds, retire after the dog picks up go-bird or goes for flyer. Flyer #2 off our left across water @ 350 yards/retired, shot to the right--BIG throw and gunners were told to let it ride a long ways & they did. Swing way to our right #3/out gun, thrown to the right into a patch of heavy cover at 275 yards. Some dogs took flyer first, some took middle gun first, most took the out go-bird.

41 back.
Double land blind. Short blind on top of a mound. Long blind to the left of short blind and through the flyer feathers.

31 back.
Double water blind run from top of a mound. First blind was poison bird thrown to tip of point, down the shore along the poison point, across open water to the next peninsula on the left--125 yards. Second blind from same mat, run along water and enter about 30 yards down the shore, cut the corner of the water, out and run on land--300 yards. 16 back to watermarks on Sunday.

CONGRATULATIONS to everyone!

Last series was a water triple. Long right retired at 300 yards thrown to left, retire behind mound. Center retired at 130 yards thrown to right, retire behind mound. Line to these birds was almost the same. Off to our left was a flyer across the water at 125 yards. Wind changed from no wind to 10-15 mph. SE to NE during the test.

Amateur was not quite finished when I left. Heard they did 3 dead birds, no flyer--but not sure.

We are so exited about Dreamer winning the Open she did get her AFC but that is her first Open placement and we sure do hope we can get 2 pts to qualify her for the National Open!! WOW what a thrill NAFC Whoa Nellie's only puppy puts tears in my eyes several times today and that's what this is all about!! Man you gotta love these dogs!! I Can't tell you how many times Kenny and I have said WOW today!! There are so many WOW's in this sport...you can have a WOW in the Derby the first time my dog made it thru the 1st series or you could have a WOW in the Qual the first time my dog got the retired gun and you could have a dog that makes it thru the first series in the amatuer .....I have to tell you those "Firsts" are really Special!!" I hope that no matter what you have done in this sport ...( and boy have we been lucky!!) you never take those firsts for granted!! We sure don't and still treasure those greens.

Simply put my dog was not up to finishing the last series he had a senior moment and forgot to Mark. This did not diminish from my enjoyment of the weekend just great to be around fun supportive people.
