Roof rack cargo

recently downsized from the gas guzzler and old Suburban to a gently pre owned Nissan Pathfinder...lost a ton of cargo space and obvious power..

but those of you with SUV's have you used any roof top carriers like those advertised at Cabelas..the Pathfinder comes with a very nice integrated and adjustable rack with a wind spoiler...I have a complete set of new adjustable wide cargo straps from the previous vehicle

Basically looking to store extra clothing,waders, goose silhouettes,bumpers, maybe a bird crate...the kind of stuff that wont leave me heartbroken if it were to be lost ...guns and dogs will remain inside

any info pro or con will be appreciated...

I have a Thule Atlantis carrier on my Nissan SUV and have used it on some long trips through all kinds of weather. Nice thing about it is you can open it from either side.
Works great but does cut down on gas mileage.

exactly the kind of info I was looking for, thanks will look into Thule, have seen them on many vehicles

I have a PackaSport 90, that is larger than the Tule/Yakimas, 7.5 ' L x 34" L x 12" H. Made from reinforced fiberglass using lamination's of aluminum, carpted inside and very aerodynamic. Has served me well on 3-4 Suburbans we had over the years. I am willing to sell if for less than 27% + of the original retail cost.
