Here's something worth watching that doesn't seem to be getting much play in the media. Major changes in the education system in Louisiana. Sounds like some good ideas to me. I'll be curious to see how it works out.

More charter schools and a voucher systems are on the table here in PA, but it is being fought by teachers' unions and those associated with the failing school districts. There is one local charter school locally that has been in the local news due to mismanagement of funds. So, they do need to keep track of the charter schools' accounting.

Luckily, most teachers in the state are non-union as they are given the option to join or not join. The vast majority on union teachers in the state are in New Orleans(can you say Democrats;-)). Union teachers are fighting the tenure clause (limited tenure) whereas many of the non-union teachers outside of the city support Gov Jingles reform. No doubt that are many incompetant teachers in Orleans Parish Public system whereas the private schools are as good as anywhere in the country.

Folks were up in arms when he reformed the state's Healthcare system and he saved the state a couple hundred million, all the while improving Healthcare. The local Dems just hate the word, "austerity" or the idea that tax payers need to be considered in any state policy! One thing about Gov Bobby Jingle, he is all about the working class tax payers!

Jindal would tell him things he wouldn't want to hear. As poor as Jindal is on camera, the man is a flat out genius and that is how an Indian-American became gov of the state in the deep south. He reformed Healthcare while working for the former Gov Mike Foster administration. The same Gov Foster that stole our duck lease down at Pecan Island!

The NIH has spent over $5 million on this project. Certainly the internet is more cost-effective than other means of public education ... but what do you think of this approach to engage the target audience?

The success rate is somewhere between 16% to 20%

The intervention developed by this research team has already yielded positive results by demonstrating a 20 percent reduction in risk behavior in this population."

Does this mean that they use condoms 20% of the time, and don't 80% of the time? Or does it mean that 20% of the people who view the site use condoms all the time?

I can't imagine that the target population are ignorant of the risks involved with unprotected sex ... but we need to spend $5 million to keep reminding them, it appears. Of course that is cheaper than picking up the tab for the health care if they become infected.

You're joking right !!!!let ME tell you bout Jindal...My wife worked for the state for 31 yrs. the healthcare we have thru the state has 500m in assets..best run HC in the U.S. ,well your boy Jindal did his damnest to get that money to put in the general fund !!! now teacher retirement.. wants or got 3% from the school teachers to PAY BACK what the STATE borrowed from the Retirement system and HAS NOT paid it back so he's taxing the teachers to put in the fund that HE USED... Now the vocher system..If you got a kid that's dumb as a post going to a non-performing school and giving them a vocher to go to a school that getting the job done and if the kid still doesn't cut it he still gets a check..and the teacher is at risk of losing her job..
That's genius Alright

There are no more free loaders looking for a check. Earn your keep.

The numbers/stats don't lie. The education system, housing market, economy, & etc have done nothing but go up exponentially. Yeah, all he does is get things accomplished.
