They want to give you one? Heck, for that price, I think you should take it and try it out. I just got one and I love it.

Cyndi you WANT the iPad....the bad side is you wont put it down...I just bought an iPhone, and find myself on it more than a PC..the only other downside to an older iPad is the lack of a flash player which wont allow you to view some videos...heck we even got Lanse to ditch his PC and use an iPad2 to answer all his emails while on the road, get yourself a stylus or a keyboard unless you have long skinny fingers

get yourself a wireless router, they are fairly inexpensive, you may already have one installed and just dont know it....where does the signal enter your house...that box is where you want the router to send out a wireless signal (wi fi) that way you can sit on the couch and have the ipad while you watch TV

is your current PC hooked up to the broadband connection or thru the same cable box as your TV

it will not cost you anything monthly since its just another computer

Ask your daughter if she can throw in a wireless router and hook it up for you.

There is no extra charge, it works with your current internet connection and just broadcasts the signal around your house you you can sit and surf anywhere.

If the iPad has wireless 3G, you could subscribe to a data plan that would allow you to connect and surf just like on a cell phone, anywhere where there is cellular coverage. I have a data plan, but some can run you a bit of dough. I have a plan because I travel and need to keep in touch with work and various other projects I have going with my consulting.

My current computer is hooked thru roadrunner with a broadband conection and our TV's are thru DTV. So if I get a router it will let me work the ipad in the house what about if I go on a trip will it work in the truck? Is that going to cost more? if I only used it in motels with a wifi connection is there still a seperate charge for a data plan I would have to pay? Roadrunner says for 50 to install and 5 bucks a month they can hook up a wireless modem but sounds like I can do the same cheapier with a router.

if you get a router it will work in the house and out of the house on the porch or back yard...I am guessing its an iPad and not an iPad2 or 3, so you can use it anywhere there is a wifi hot spot like Starbucks,McDonalds etc..but you dont have the capability to use it in the middle of the field like a cellphone , that is what came with the iPad2/3...the must have accessory is the magnetic cover which is also used to wipe the screen...also plenty of iTunes gift cards to download music, movies, books

you will like it...check that..you will love it

I seem to use the I pad almost all the time over the Lap top, as you add different Aps it becomes easy to use.

Bingo! And when you travel, no you don't have to pay normally to use hotel wifi. I think in South Dakota, even the rest areas have wifi. One time I stayed at a Motel 6 and they wanted $2 for the wifi password. The only time I've seen a charge...

Bon, my wife has the first iPad, she does cellular. You can use cellular data with them if you bought one with 3G.

the iCloud is a backup for all your data, songs, pictures, contacts etc...you need to open an account and get an iCloud ID, you can do it on your PC...You also need to download iTunes so you can buy your apps and sync whatever pics you have in your PC with your iPad2

I use my iPad for everything from writing invoices for are kennel to updating are website. They are a great tool as long as you can control your usage. I also use the iPad and my iPhone 4s to accept credit card payment with the square card reader. If you need to learn anything go to apples website.

Try Evernote. Instead bookmarking all the good training articles you find you can just clip it to Evernote & always have it. Evernote also makes a great training log. Add skitch to it and you can draw your setups and save them with the note.

This is what I do. I put articles and such in Evernote and also use as a training log. I can take pictures of my setups. Then I can use the picture as a base layer on Adobe ideas. I mark up the falls etc and the lines the dogs took. Then I post it to evernote with notes about what happened. It is great for a training log. I'll have to look into Skitch. Since it has been acquired by Evernote, it might be easier to use.
