Bloomberg's latest idea is to disallow the sale of sugary drinks (primarily soda) in sizes over 16 oz. Fruit juice will be exempt, as well as diet soda.

Not going to defend soda's lack of nutritional value, but should govt be engaged in restraint of trade? What good is it to preclude selling large sizes? Won't people just buy two smaller size drinks? Is the next step banning sugar sodas completely?

Doesn't he have more important things to do in NYC?

Isn't it ironic that politicians who claim it's a womens right to make decisions about her body when debating late term abortions... will say that same woman is too stupid to make decisions about her own body when it comes to a super sized coke?

Now they're going after movie theater popcorn container size & milkshakes (remember milk-based products were exempt from the soda-size ruling). Add this to the long-standing NYC ban on smoking in parks, beaches or workplaces, and there is no way to interpret these laws as anything but the govt saying we're just too dumb to take care of ourselves.

Is it also ironic, though, that if anyone mentions limiting what foodstuffs can be purchased with food stamps, the spit hits the fan?
