Well they upheld a portion of the law that lets the police check citizenship when they pull you over for a traffic stop. But they struck down the other three parts. So much for justice.

BUT the provision that was upheld was done so by a 8-0 vote (Kagen recused herself)
nothing like this admin will get biatch slapped on Thurs....apparently Chief Justice Roberts wrote the opinion, better him than Ginsburg, Breyer, or Kennedy

The problem might be that DOJ immediately made it clear that DOJ will be watching AZ police like a hawk for any possible "profiling", and the Court decision will allow that.
Then there is the problem that Homeland Security is not interested in the illegals they find ... and the AZ police cannot arrest them. They end up being able to find the illegals ... and then let them go on their way.
Not really much of a win.
The only solution is true immigration reform. Rubio has some cogent ideas. Not as generous as Obama's Dream Act or the present Presidential executive order, but an element of compassion in it nonetheless.

Now they have a hotline setup so people can call if they feel their civil rights are violated. Justice dept cancelled their agreement with AZ they won't let our police use their database To check the status of a person or respond if we need them. Obama just does what he wants there is only one law obamas law this is the worst person that could have ever been put into the white house. He has fought AZ every step of the way.

VERY SAD that the Sec of DHS is your former Gov, Napolitano...also disappointed that both Senators Kyl and McCain have been fairly quiet on the subject
all the more reason that a new POTUS would bring in a tougher DHS instead of making AZ a virtual sanctuary state...people who have never lived in a border state or in the southwest US really have no idea what the situation really is...
I sincerely hope that law abiding citizens of AZ don't have to pay with their lives, because of the SCOTUS rulings

They already have... before the SCOTUS ruling. It will only get worse.

What is our government coming to? So now Obama tells the DOJ not to share its data base in running background checks for law enforcement of Az.? Does Az make a deal with Tx. to run the background checks for them and now Obama directs DOJ not to share data base with Tx. In the event that a US marshall is killed and the fed gov. asks Tx. state law enforcement to help with the apprension of the killer, does Tx. tell them that they have better things to do and that the murder of a US marshal is a fed crime and they see no reason to cooperate with the feds is apprehending fed criminals? This president has caused more animosity between fed and state agencies, between one citizen and another, more than at any time since the civil war. How long will it take to repair this catastrophe even if he is thrown out of office in Nov.? It truly has to be the saddest time of my 68 year life.

If the present admin really wanted to fix immigration they had 2 years of total control of Congress to do so. Without doing the immigration issue first, the Obamacare legislation is open to fraud (from illegals).
Interesting thought: if O-care individual mandate were to go into effect, would ER's (hospitals) have to check for insurance? No discrimination there, as they do that for EVERYone now. Would illegals then be fined for failure to have health insurance? Or would failure to have health insurance only apply to legal residents? Woud DOJ decide not to enforce that law either?
Broader perspective: to what degree does DOJ or POTUS have any/how much latitude in deciding which laws they will enforce? Precedents to establish that?
If the court ruling precludes the state law from keeping illegals from working, what about state laws that would penalize the employers for hiring same? Is there already a Fed law? If so, why can't states enforce a Fed law? If states are not required to enforce Fed laws, what kind of chaos does that create as criminals flee over state borders to avoid law enforcement? I would think that states would have a vested interest in assisting the Fed in pursuing violent criminals, but white collar crooks might all move to those states that limit their cooperation to violent criminals. This would be such a God-awful mess.

Our Gov and Senator were on last night it doesn't sound like there is anything they can do. W have a Pres running wild doing whatever he feels like according to them he's not upholding laws which he was sworn to do and there's nothing they can do?
You know you have a huge problem as a State when the DOJ sets up a hot line for iliegals to call in to complain about law enforcement , but our police and agents are refused any help in finding out if these people are illegals. Ice told Az they do not call us we will not repond. Obama has done a great job in destroying America and thats been his agenda all along. We had a 14 year old boy having to grab their dads gun and shoot a Hispanic 37 yr old that broke into his home don't know if he was an illegal l but I know crime is on the rise now all these people will not be deported
