Not well played. Sadly the independent/libertarians will suffer as much as the rest. You don't get to sit on some mountain and say I told you so, or throw distain at both parties, claiming the holier than thou hindsight. We will all go down. Its starting right now--talked to anyone who has renewed their health insurance premiums for next year? Its really sad how much more is coming out of hard working folks pockets, for FREE healthcare. The corruption of this administration, absolute arrogance displayed with the Benghazi affair is just the tip of the proverbial ice berg. This administration is nothing more than thugs. We have down played, belittled and thrown out our values, our morals, our history so that people don't OFFEND others. We mock marriage. We cater to any religion except Christains, obviously Christains are the EVIL ones.....We excuse rude, disgusting behavior as "art". We give away our freedoms by not taking control of our representatives, by blindly trusting the regulations to make life better for us. We are beat down by violence on TV, prime time porn streaming to our children, parents that don't give a shit about the life they brought into this world. And you say it was the mindset of hardworking, morally grounded people who got him elected?? Because we don't believe in his utopia? We don't worship these false idols called celbra-idiots?? No what got him elected was the fact that people are content to stick their heads in the sand while our constitution is gutted and pissed on. What got him elected was the internet/twitter/lamestream media that spun everything is just fine, go back to your food stamps, the Gov will take care of you while you live in poverty, sleep till noon, sell drugs, ignore your children........fall farther into the vicious circle of welfare and urban blight. I'm sorry Franco but your signature lines begs the question~when are you critical of the man in the mirror and how do WE fix this?? Please don't take the attitude of its not my fault, because the sad truth is it is all our faults.

I'm tired and am heartbroken.

First of all, it didn't begin with Obama!

Second, why would anyone support the morally corrupt and fiscally corrupt Dems and Repubs? Don't fool yourself, the Repubs are just as sick as the Dems.

Finally, I supported DR Ron Paul and then the Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson because they were the only honest men running and they had real concrete answers and solutions. But, that is not what they voters wanted.

I've got some real news for you, we are totally screwed with the current two party system!

Unlike you, I am fighting for real change and reform whereas you are supporting the status quo.

I am still waiting for an answer that I asked on another thread. Many here have said that Obama bought votes by making promises of free stuff. I asked if it was true or not whether Romney made similar promises to buy votes. No one wants to admit that Romney was doing exactly the same thing that Obama was doing, just to a group of people in a different tax and income bracket.

The GOP is done, finni.

Their only appeal is to older white people. Just look at their hopefuls for 2016 and anyone with an open mind can see they are finished. The GOP brand is damaged beyond repair. Expect an Obama deciple to run in 2016 and win by an even bigger margin.

Whereas, of the 1.2 million that vote Libertarian, over 900,000 of them are of the ages 18 - 34 and were white, black, hispanic, and asian. That is the future and as the GOP continues to alienate more voters, the Libertarians will pose the biggest threat to the Socialist Dems. That's because if one were to look at the Libertarian Platform at LP.org, one would realize that it is the only party that represents real personal Liberty. Smaller government, vastly reduced spending and government over-reach, personal responsibility, a return to real Capitalism/Free Trade, not the Crony Capitalism championed by the Repubs and Dems. And, a sane Foreign Policy of peace instead of the dysfuntional one that the Dems and Repubs promote!

They both lied through their teeth and made promises that they knew could never be kept. But, the majority of voters are too distracted/preoccupied to recognize how bad the choice were. Just look at the debates, there was zero substance. Well, we have the government we deserve and have had it for some time now!

I will answer your question...they BOTH pandered to their bases...the differences are drastic....if you want to say they BOUGHT votes by making promises, go right ahead...but for one side their base and who they pandered too have very little and what was "promised" was wrapped up as if they were entitled to the added help....the other candidate pandered to a base by "promising" not to take away as much from his base to give to the have nots...if marketing dollars equals buying votes then every politician and special interest group does it

Obamae didn't make promises he has delivered. 50 million people on welfare. Free phones you name it he has delivered it. Romney just wanted to give those on welfare a job. Is that buying votes? Don't believe the rederic that Romney was just for the rich. Thats just election BS.

What really bugged me about him was the fact that when he said something that he believed in. His campaign people would come out and say that's not what he meant to say, and he wouldn't come back and say that he said what he meant. He let those people change his statements and never rebutted them. I am probably more skeptical of someone like him than others tend to be. He just has that look about him that rubs me wrong. I don't know what "it" is that rubs me wrong. But, whatever "it" is, he definitely has it.

I'll take a bit of a stab at that. The difference, as I see it, is that Obama said "elect me, and I'll be sure the gov't takes care of you", and many believe that Romney's position was, "elect me, and I'll try to get the gov't out of your way so that you can take care of yourself". The perception is that Obama's way increases takers, and Romney's way increases producers. Could be a misperception, but then again, maybe not.

It may be that if we saw that part of his routine in its entirety, the perception would have been different. It may be that we would have seen that he was actually ridiculing the very attitude he was evidencing at the time. Problem here is we don't know because we didn't see the whole routine. Definitely not enough evidence to get one's panties in a wad if looked at logically.

That comment should be beneath even you, Murral. It's just another version of the liberal race card...assuming everyone on here is such a bigot that they'd freak out if their daughter dated someone of a different race or religion. Well then we do have some things in common as I love my dirt too.

I have never disputed that Obama plays to the lowest common denominator among us. I do not like his Socialist agenda. However, the moral and financial mess was created by both major political parties. There was only one Constitutionalist that ran in the Primaries and he was widely rejected by both the GOP brass and voters. Bush and Reagan trashed the document just as much as Obama and Clinton.

What this country needs is another voice! A voice with different ideas, whose ideals are founded in The Constitution. Which begs the question; if our most influential Founding Father, Thomas Jefferson, were alive today, which party would he belong to?

I think most on here would be fine with it as long as the guy was a decent person. Rapists, wife beaters, thieves and leaches on society come in all colors.

I wasn't playing the race card. I was asking the question to those that claim not to be racist to see how they would answer it. Did you notice the lack of a response by the one I posed the question to? Mothers have an entirely different outlook on whom their daughter dates than dads do. I will wait 24 hours to see if I get a response to come to a conclusion.

Murral, I have 3 daughters all beautiful, successful, intelligent, independent young ladies capable of making up their own minds about who they wish to date. Actually, one is married to a Marine. For the record a few years back one dated a college baseball player from Mexico. We had him over to the house on numerous occasions and he spent one Christmas at our house. You are grasping at straws.

Umm... there is a critique to be made about the stupidity of the comment (I mean... the Foxx comment, not necessarily... well... you know... whatever.) Then there is the political critique that has been well hashed out here. But there is a religious element to all this that is simultaneously obvious and studiously ignored. Very much the t*rd in the punchbowl so to speak.

Go with me here for a minute. I'm going to try and put some intense feelings into words and I may not be very successful. Here goes:

There are folks who are devoutly Christian. They have a deep and abiding passion for One they believe is God-made-flesh who was born into poverty, lived among us, died a death he didn't deserve in order to redeem people whose only recommendation was their hatred and enmity toward Him and His Father.

WHAT have they (these believers) done to this comedian, that he should hijack their devotion and call for it to be applied to a finite and fallible human being? How has THE Lord and Savior so offended Foxx that he should demand worship of his favorite politician with praise that belongs only to God?

Why blaspheme God and ridicule Christians? Why?

So, I guess I'm saying that this man's idiocy was a deliberate effort to profoundly offend Christians. I don't know if folks who are not particularly Christian would feel offense on our behalf. I sort of hope they would just as I hope our society at large has not gone as seriously off kilter as it sometimes seems.

(As an aside: Curiously, Mr. Foxx didn't slip up and proclaim his favorite politician to be Allah or Allah's Prophet. Hmmm. Wonder how come?)

Indeed... I'm about to become grandmother to two Haitian children being adopted by my daughter and her husband. You better believe I want them to be as free to love and be loved as our caucasian, natural grandchildren.

And if one person points out any spelling errors........

Very good post. You think a lot like I do. When I point out to some family members that you can't get out of debt by spending and then borrowing more money they ignore that and start talking about something else. I don't know where their reasoning power went but it's gone.

in our family we dont look at race, we are just happy when the nephews/nieces come home with someone of the opposite sex...I remember one female visitor to the family gathering made a comment that she would never want a taxidermy mount in her house...to which someone muttered " she won't last a month"...they were right

Ask Bon what I posted that he wanted me to delete the post. It was too "barbaric" for him to stomach. That post was exactly what I believe about the ME and what I believe should be done. Some people want to keep us in the wars, just for the sake that it appears we are actually doing somethig, but none are really ready to do what would stop all of this crap. We could go in and actually put an end to this war in a matter of days, but there would be collateral damage and we can't have the collateral damage because we would be barbarians.

People only "know" me here and have drawn conclusions that I am a bad person. If you ever met me and didn't know my name, you'd have a different impression of me. I am typically a happy go lucky guy. My ex inlaws still welcome me into their home any time, because I make them laugh. No matter how bad their day is going, I can always cheer them up.

I have to say again that it is entirely possible that this is much ado about nothing. We only saw a tiny part of the routine. I have seen some of his routines and I think that it is absolutely possible that it was a total send up of the Obama toadies. (OK all you who voted for him, not everyone who voted for him is a toady, some are just cognitively challenged ;-) ). We didn't see enough of the routine to judge where he was going or whether it was going to be something that Christians should find offensive. I think it is very likely that he was making a point, making fun of the Obama worshipers. I would like to see the rest of that riff.

I know that was the first thing out of his mouth (or assumed so). I'm interested in what he said after that. If it didn't go on to become obvious satire, then I agree, a very poor choice on his part.

This is not the first time Obama has been controversially compared to Jesus. Most recently, actor Jamie Foxx drew flak when a pre-recorded BET special began with his exhorting the Soul Train Awards crowd to "give an honor to God and our lord and savior Barack Obama." (http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=mkPa8v5p5mY)
Perhaps unsurprisingly, Donohue was even less amused by Foxx's comments. (http://blogs.ajc.com/the-buzz/2012/11/27/jamie-foxx-praises-president-obama-as-our-lord-and-savior/?icid=buzzlink)
“Foxx’s epiphany is startling,” Donahue said in a statement. “It just goes to show that even though Obama did not succeed in stopping the oceans from rising (as he promised to do in 2008), he did succeed in convincing Jamie Foxx, and no doubt legions of others, that God exists. Whether God can survive an ACLU lawsuit accusing him of violating church and state grounds remains to be seen.”
