So, what does this have to do with anything? The guy was breaking a ton of laws! Why should those that follow the current laws be punished for those who do not?

Because that's how the liberals think! There is nothing rational about their thought process. If you don't believe me just ask one of them.

It always more dramatic to say he is a felon. He could even had a felony trespassing or DUI. The story wouldn't have had the impact if you saw it was just a drug possession charge. He might have not received anything in the states which just passed pot laws.
