The collar in the u.s. Has developed more titled bitches contributing to the gene pool. The physical/punishment era where sometimes brute strength was the criteria for training dogs. More females, human types, have been super sucessful with the humane use of the e collar, without being physical etc. Therefore in the hunt test and field trial games, breeding the best to the best is more prevalent. In the past you had unproven brood bitches going on pedigree alone. My take on it.
Lots more big money, more pros, etc has also contributed to better trained dogs.
    Just one man's opinion.

    Hi there from Australia,

Been pondering AGAIN ha!! As you have "been around" field games for a while, do you think the dogs have improved, or has training simplybecome more um..um.. humane - teaching before punishment blah blah. Do you feel US field labs generally are bold and confident?

asked you before but you answer didn't address the question - didn't "Smok'n Red devil have a big impact on the golden breed - didn't a lot of his offspring become kind of "goofy/schizo (sp) at least these were my observations with what I saw at Lardy's when he started training - and I talked about this before in my previous message - gosh some of the names like Costad I had forgotten about - over 40 years ago arready
you old fart - guess what most of them are good
