I hope to get out to a day or 2 of the Sioux Valley trial. I was on EE earlier today and it looks like a big open and good numbers in the AM, Q and Derby. Lots of talented dogs and handlers..hopefully the weather will be a little cooler by the SV Trial. You and your colleagues have great dedication to the daily rigors of the training necessary to compete at this level....with out even considering the financial commitment necessary to try one's best to be competitive. Best of luck with your dogs as the year continues.

Peerless wil run when you think he is ready to run......a lot of derby dogs do well at that level but don't do much later.. so maturation, training consistency and time to get into a stable pattern may help to curb his enthusiasm to a more manageable level which may help that great breeding show up in the AA or Open.

I see Ken Schaff is running a dog from a breeding you did with Brad Lotak.

Hope to CU at the Sioux Valley Field Trial

When you get recovered from the weekend I would like to hear about your experience at Topeka. If I understand this AAA stakes point system it appears to me that at least 3 guys from the Sioux Valley Club have dogs that may win an AFC in the next month or year or two or if very unlucky and don't get the additional points places or wins (in Pugh's case) or if the dog gets injured may not. It appears to me that both Ed and Chef and Vern and Dealer just need additional points as they both have 2 AAA wins and Dennis dog Air has the needed points to fill in but at this time still needs 2 wins. Air has been pretty consistent this year. Hopefully the plans come together and they all get there. It is a tough and very competitive game you guys play. I was glad to see Bob Swenson and Finn get a place in the AAA last weekend. Hang in there your time is coming! You must be getting anxious to hunt a bit. Fill me in when you get time Later Joel

    Joel,

Ken Schaff sold Walker to one of Hillman's clients for $15k. Raven went out on the water blind this weekend. She was too high and not interested in working with me on a very tough blind. 28 dogs tried it and 7 came back for the next series...

when you get recovered from the weekend and if you have time I'd like to hear about You and Mick and Raven and the trial. Hope to see you at the Sioux Valley Trial next weekend. In looking at the entries on EE I see that Bill Hillman has been heading east and is running two derby dogs at Deel Ray in Maryland next week end. Ken Schaff also has Walker entered in the Derby there. 23 derby dogs and 9 of 23 have derby point. A Buster pup, Lucky has 27, another 20 pointer and Hillman/tatum Shine at 17 1/2...looks like quite a derby field. You suppose I am retired with too much time on my hands! Hope you have a good week training. joel druley

Good luck at the Minot Field Trial this weekend. It looks like another large and talented field of both dogs and handlers.
