Hat to ask, but did the dog survive? Conibears are designed to kill.

kill small animals. A dog would have to stick it's head through the trap. The dog got his leg caught in it and did survive with minimal injuries. It just took a long time to free the dog because nobody knew how to open the trap is my understanding.

I'll note that the traps are not "illegal" in Wa. State although, they are prohibited from this particular public use area.

We had an idiot who set a trap like this last year right on a road that lead to a popular duck hole here in Ga. A hunter found it with his foot and not his dog. This was one of the few mornings his 9 year old daughter was not with him. DNR was called. They came back and camped out on the trap and caught the idiot who set it. He was not suppose to set the traps in the area, nor did he have his name and phone number on the traps like is required by law in Ga. Did I say idiot?
