not coming into heat
I have a client whose dog came in about two years ago. I had her for 10 months in which we got a jr title then a sr title on her. She then went home, hunted for duck season last year and has started hunting this year. She had come into heat once before she came to me then never while she was with me. Since she has been home, just over a year, she has not come into heat. The doc says it is a product of going into training for so long at 6 months of age and she may or may not ever come into heat now. My question is, is there anything that he can do to help her start her heat cycle?
Slow her down. Fatten her up.(On the couch eating bon bons from our vet) LOL. Expose to males and females in heat.Be patient , been there! Good luck.
I have had them poof- come in heat as soon as they change environments.( IE- coming in for training).
May check her thyroid too- .
I agree with the slow her down and fatten her up. Have one here that basically only cycled when totally rested and got "fat" (not obese like a lot of pet dogs, but "good weight", just not "training weight"). She just turned 10 and had maybe 5 heat cycles her whole life, conceived on the two of them that she was bred producing litters of 9 at 6 years old and 7 at 9 years old.
