Gun Control ... the worm turns in Mexico
Mexican law does not allow "ordinary" citizens to own firearms. The drug cartels, of course, don't obey that law. When the govt proved itself ineffective in protecting citizens from the cartels' violence, the citizens decided to disobey that law as well. The citizens defending themselves proved more effective than the govt "attempting" to do so. Finally, their President took note of the benefit and decided to go along with the citizens. There are conditions for allowing these citizens to protect themselves.
If the crime-ridden neighborhoods of Chicago (and other high-crime cities) find out about this ... that letting law-abiding citizens have guns to defend themselves makes some sense ...
