I hope he would be a better hunting companion than Clinton. Bill showed up after dailight and managed to have a tree hugger protester show up too when he came to Taylors Island here. He managed to kill one duck on a place where everyone generally limits out.
Back in 1993 when the battle over so-called assault weapons was at its peak, I was a lobbyist with the state affiliate of the NRA. We invited all the congress-critters, ALL OF THEM, to come to a shooting range at the state capital on a special day so they could learn about guns in general, and in particular the difference between semi-automatics and automatics. They could look at them close up. They could handle them. They could fire them. The NRA did the same thing in DC.
With a few exceptions, the only congress-critters that showed up were already on our side. The people that we really needed to reach, those in complete opposition to us, didn't show up. "My mind is already made up, please don't confuse me with the facts."
You may have the very best of intentions, but they have an agenda and there is almost never any getting around that.
Now, so you don't get the wrong idea, on a personal level we got along fine with most of the antigun congress-critters. After the legislative day was over, we would go to a bar and drink and play darts and have a great time together with them. My best friend was an anti-gun freshman from Chicago who was leading Mayor Daley's fight to ban handguns. But that was after work. During the day they have a job to do.
I don't mean to start an argument in this thread, but that is hilarious! On a more serious note, I definitely would. To have a possible anti gun law maker join me on a hunt and to express how safe it is when done correctly could do wonders for us hunters.Quote:

I would have a problem huntingwith him ,,,sitting down to dinner with him or even shaking his hand. And no I don't hate the guy. he is actually quite likeable.
However he is an advocate for socialism,,,something I am addimantly against. And he will steer our country in that direction. I am anti all that jazz and would not compromise what ever interety I may have in sharing a moment or sharing a meal with,, or being introduced by the bonding of a handshake.
If he represented another country I would have no problem enjoying a hunt or a meal or an intro by hand shake. His policies have very little affect on me in theory.
However I love my country to much to indulge in pleasantries with someone who will take this country down a path in which I cringe to see it go.
Anyway its a different perspective
