Most of those I know in Bakersfield as well as elsewhere in the general area end up going south-
they make a day out of it and go to either Newport Beach Veterinary Hospital (they did my dog's rads and were wonderful- it is Deb who usually does them: http://www.veterinaryspecialist.com/) or to one of Dr. Dana Bleifer's offices in Woodland Hills or Pasadena (http://www.wcpc.net/).
For PennHIP, you'd probably have to look here: http://www.pennhip.org/ReferralUSA.html#CA
Good vets in Santa Rosa, but thats a trip for you ,unless youre coming up north anyway.
PM me if you want info on them. I drive 2.5 hours for the xrays, worth it to me that they dont do anesthesia and are reasonable plus they do a ton of them,so know what theyre doing positionwise...
Thanks for the info, great help.
Should I wait until she is two before getting the hip X rays?
You might check with Dr. Popkin's office in Santa Rosa and find out if he's going to be at a Breed show anywhere near you. If you don't mind walking your dog through all the "pretties" he has a great set up and does digitals in his mobile van.
I went with a friend of mine to a show last summer where we both had hips/elbows done on our dogs. My two were beside themselves because of all the squeeky toy noises. We got a few "what are you doing here" looks, but it was okay.
Dr. Popkin's office number is 707-545-7387 and his website is http://www.showdogmed.com/
Of course, being goldens, my dogs wanted to go to the vendors area after their x-rays and buy some nifty bandanas for the occasion.

Are there any good Vets in the San Diego area who do Hip and Elbow x-rays? She turns two in March.
