New Bills in Oklahoma Legislature
Hi All,
Usually a lurker but I felt it was important to pass on this message.
Several new bills pertaining to animals in the OK Legislature. Here are two of them.
HB 1332: Breeding regulations bill called the Pet Quality Assurance Act. This is a sister bill to one last year (HB 3192) The bill calls for mandated inspections, licensure and fines/fees for anyone who transfer, sells or breeds over 25 dogs in a calendar year. It also stipulates the guidelines for animal seizures, penalties and surprise inspections. This bill will affect rescue organizations.
HB2209: Changes language from dog owner to dog guardian and lists the penalties for mistreating dogs by anyone and has a section specific to dog “guardians”. While good intended this bill may indirectly lead to the outlaw of training methods that some would deem “abusive”.
