Can't there be one free country

To all of you people who want to turn us in Europe, please leave. Let us have one free country on this planet. Short of that I'm up for secession. I think the line would be roughly north-south, but I think SW Ohio and Southern Indiana would go to the free side. Then you could have your socialist utopia.

We have a very nice right of personal secession. Each of us is able to leave the country at any time. Buy an island and live free! In this country, I am personally happy to live within the constraints of democracy even if they come with the quaint artifacts of votes weighted to favor smaller states. I have disagreed vehemently with the policies of some of our Presidents, and have felt betrayed by the incompetence of others. However, a political system that has been successful in preventing the ascendency of either the far right or far left is doing its job properly.

As to who I mean by "far right" and "far left", I would say that you are far right if you view anyone left of Reagan as a socialist and you are far left if you view anyone right of Clinton as a fascist. On this forum, we have many of the former and few if any of the latter. For what it's worth, I view myself as more or less center left. I would classify anyone viewing me as a socialist as at least ideologically ignorant and almost certainly "far right."

This is what happens when good people think they are to busy to be involved in the process…we all need to get involved in the process.
