EPA Concludes that greenhouse gases are a danger to public health

“The Environmental Protection Agency has concluded that carbon dioxide and five other greenhouse gases are a danger to public health and welfare, taking the first step to regulating pollution linked to climate change, The Associated Press has learned.

Such regulation would have widespread economic and social impact, from requiring more fuel efficient automobiles to limiting carbon dioxide emissions from power plants and industrial sources, changing the way the nation produces energy.

The EPA has concluded that the science pointing to man-made pollution as a cause of global warming is “compelling and overwhelming.” The blame goes mainly to carbon dioxide from burning fossil fuels.”

Look at the brite side, the EPA may cause congress to do less talking and more work fixing problems, and making sure the laws are on the books (such as gun laws and democrats paying taxes) are enforced. The EPA won't ever get a chance to leave Washington.

The The Fox article begins with a quote of the "compelling" data. However, compelling is not conclusive. This is a case of justifying the results you want.

My question is how are the greenhouse gases a danger to public health? What diseases/causes of death are being increased by the atmospheric levels of thses gases? What are the leading causes of worldwide mortality? US mortality?

US life expectancy will be increased much more by spending dollars on lifestyle changes that reduce smoking, drinking, over-eating and extramarital sex. It will also dramatically reduce healthcare costs. I heard the statistic recently that 50% of all healthcare dollars are spent on care that is caused by lifestyle induced diseases.

It is interesting that they don't report on the many engineers leaving the EPA over unethical emails coming down from those in charge that basically state to ignore laws and regulations that might slow down businesses and ventures of minorities and those with protected business status.
