Supreme irony ... the more socialistic the economy would become, the more obsolete unions would become, i.e. the government simply decides what the wages and benefits shall be.
If Obama's goal is to see GM survive, and is willing to fire the CEO to do that, one wonders how far he's willing to go on "trimming" union perks? Eventually, there's no "free lunch".

BHO's budget asked for $80 million for the closing of Gitmo. The $80 mil being to relocate the detainees now held there. That's a bit over $330,000 per detainee, since there are 240 detainees remaining there.
Congress says they're not giving the administration that $80 mil until a plan is presented for relocating the detainees. Small oversight ... if we close Gitmo, what do we do with them?
It was implied that Congress isn't that upset about keeping Gitmo open since the abuses that have made the headlines have stopped. No mention was made of the civil rights legal issues that were the focus previously.
Seems that nobody wants those guys; and nobody has come up with a way to put them somewhere where they can not do any damage. I guess the feeling is that they really are bad guys that shouldn't just be set free.
